Diesel transmission jumping

I've got just over 10,500 miles on mine and the transmission just starting jumping a bit when coming to a stop. Just before I stop rolling, it jumps 3 or 4 times like it is trying to go. It seems to be only once the engine has warmed up- anybody else had a similar issue?

Re: Diesel transmission jumping

It sounds to me like maybe the engine is lugging, which would happen if the tranny were not downshifting as freely as it should.

Best take your service adviser for a drive and let him feel it.

I've felt something similar to this as well. It almost seems like someone has rear ended my Jeep when it happens. I have not taken it to the dealer yet though. It doesnt do it all the time, I'm afraid the dealer will say that they cant duplicate the issue and it will end up being a waste of time...

That is exactly what it feels like. I am going to take it to the dealer this week- will post more when I have more info.

I have the same thing on mine. I was guessing I needed to get the new transmission software update. Is there anyway to tell if it's current?

I had a weird code thrown yesterday: P1D30. Can't find anything on it anywhere.

The only relation I can draw to the transmission is that it seems to be getting worse lately. Time to take her into the shop ASAP.

same symptoms here... it feels like the torque converter is not un-locking gradually when rolling to a stop

Re: Diesel transmission jumping

i have only noticed this a couple times and then I was towing about 3,000 lbs. My vehicle is a Nov. 2013 build.

There is a transmission update for those built prior to august 21 I think. Not sure if any of you have early diesel builds.

Re: Diesel transmission jumping

Crap - now I'm in limp mode. The exhaust filter was full and it wouldn't go into regen on the highway. I'm guessing it was because that weird code was thrown. Now I'm stuck in 3rd gear and 30mph. Weak sauce.

Re: Diesel transmission jumping

Just in case anyone is interested here's the output from my code scanner that dropped me into limp mode. I'll be headed to the dealer tomorrow for a fix and for my first service.

Re: Diesel transmission jumping

Welp, amongst other things, it sounds like I'm getting a new valve body for my transmission. I'll share the results as well as the work performed when I get it back. It might be up to another week. :(
