Code appearing "Memory Seat Disabled"

Alright, I have a 2000 GC Laredo. Just within the last 2 weeks it started shooting these codes at me: 1)Memory seat disabled, seatbelt fastend 2)Memory seat disabled, vehicle not in park. Its a crap shoot to which one it will spit out. Anyone know what it means or what causes these codes?
Thank you

Whenever you push one of the two memory switches and the transmission is not in park or the seatbelt is fastened, these messages can appear. Maybe some bad contact in one of these two switches could be the problem.

Alright, but I don't have memory seats..also, the codes are thrown when I am driving.

That the messages appear during driving is normal, because they are suppost to appear when someone uses the memory switches when not in Park or with seatbelt fastened, so normally when driving. That you donīt have the memory switches makes this an odd complaint though. The Driver Door Module is normally the interface between the memory switches and the PCI data bus and then goes to the seat module. So maybe the problemm is with the drivers door module. You could disconnect it and make a testdrive. You will loose all drivers door module functions.

If the buttons are in the same position as on the WK, then your knee is probably bumping the buttons when you are driving.

On the WJ these buttons are just above the door handle, which protudes towards the cabin, which would make it only possible for Houdini to touch these buttons with his knee, besides the fact that the OP doesnīt have the memory function on his jeep. The last fact makes it more curious that he gets the messages. An elbow would be a possibility, but also not in this case.

So how would I go about disconnecting the driver door module. ..or where might I find the connector? If you know off hand, if not, I can find out.

The power window switches and power lock switch are part of the driver door module. The module itself just sits behind the panel. To disconnect the connector you would have to remove the door panel. You could also pull fuse 12 in the PDC under the hood. It will remove the power to both door modules (so no more power windows/locks) and probably some other systems as well, but you could just do it for a test to see if the EVIC message doesnīt come anymore.

Could this be a broken wire issue in the door boot on the drivers door? I've heard this can cause strange issues. Just a thought.

Impossible its not. Normally the black ground wire or other thick gauge wire breaks with other types of results, but it could eventually be one of the thinner wires. Worth a check at least.

Hey I am Sandra and I had the same thing with my 2000 Jeep it was actually broken wires in the right front door boot. Repaired wires in the boot and no more crazy mesages.

Right on, thanks guys! It has stopped as suddenly as it began....so unless it starts again, I don't think I will mess with it. Don't fix it if it's not broken, right?
