Steering Wheel Swap and Audio Controls installation

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but I am a huge fan. I own an 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that came very basic without audio Controls on the steering wheel. I know i've read some other threads on this website where theyve talked about being able to swap out the steering wheel for one with audio controls on it and it being able to work. So i was able to get my hands on a 09 steering wheel same look but with the audio controls. Now my question is ive asked around with the dealerships and theyve mentioned how hardware might fit but issue i might run into is syncing the controls on the wheel with the module and how my car's computer might reject it since it was originally flashed to not work with audio controls . Is this true?????????? Please i appreciate all the help in advance. Gentleman from the dealership also said they dont have that software to reflash it so that it would work like other modifications.

I think you need to.pop off the airbag and see if you have the wiring under there. The controls need to somwhow use the clockspring to get into the main harness.

Be sure to disconnect battery and wait prescribrd time before touching airbag.

I think you willbe able to test if it works before putting it all back together.

Scott can tell you sometimes you just have to take yours apart and find out.
