Normal operating range engine temps
I just came across this in the Chrysler Academy's text on the VM 3.0 engine:
"...the coolant thermostat starts to open at 208 F and is fully open at 225 F. ..."
This motor definitely runs warmer than what I'm accustomed to.
Re: Normal operating range engine temps
Two reasons I can think of. Better emissions when running hotter and better efficiency for a diesel when running hotter. My only concern is that there is adequate cooling capacity when towing. Seeing the OZ guys posting some pretty high temps I wish Jeep would product an acceptable range of operating temperatures and not just the nominal ones...
