Worrying Whistle
On occasion when I decelerate my2014 CRD with my foot of the throttle I can hear a whistling sound. It appears to be coming from the front end and stops as soon as I put my foot back on the throttle. Only happens randomly hence is difficult to duplicate for the service manger. Should I be worried?......

Re: Worrying Whistle
As Benno highlighted, Sounds like the Turbo Hose.

Re: Worrying Whistle
Mine was doing the same, but also under light acceleration and it was a split turbo hose.
Are you down on power ?

Dreamer 03-31-2014 11:52 PM

Haven't noticed a decrease in power but you have to consider I traded a Nissan patrol with the 2.8L motor for the jeep.....way more powerful than the patrol

Re: Worrying Whistle
I have also read of missing clamps on the hoses joining the turbo resonator (the black plastic bit above the radiator).

The big fat hoses running to an from that contain pressurised air from the turbo.

Re: Worrying Whistle
I should have said, rather than down on power, does the car feel lazy ?
It felt like the boost would not come on as strong as it did before, it felt like a flatspot or turbo lag.

Re: Worrying Whistle
Enforcer, do you know exactly where and what turbo hose was split on yours?

Re: Worrying Whistle
I did not see which one it was, but they told me it was the one between the turbo and intercooler

Funny you mention this. I have a similar whistle to that in exact same circumstances. But mine is 3.6 petrol.
