Recall on Durangos

More detail here

http://www.jeepgarage.org/f73/2011-2...ml#post1002337

Cross posting since I know not everyone here also frequents the WK2 sections.

Bottom line - impacts vehicles with build dates of January 5, 2010, through September 8, 2013.

Build date can be found on the manufacturing plate inside the drivers door and is in the format MDH (month/day.hour). You can see it in the far right of this photo (though cut off)

Damn, almost made it. Mine was built Sept. 4th.

I'm thinking, despite the summary, we wait and see until more official information and recall notices are released.

I plan to keep my eye on WK2Jeeps to see when it gets posted there before worrying about it (even if we are outside the currently published date range).

I'm in no hurry, I'll wait for the letter. I live where it doesn't freeze or rain much so I doubt mine would corrode anytime time soon.

Mine was built after that date, but I'll still keep my eye out for a letter. I've just been through a pretty harsh winter (which the D passed with flying colors) and nothing abnormal with the brakes.

In not-really-related news, my D is in the shop for it's first unexpected repair. I went to fill up the other day, and gasoline was leaking as they were trying to fill it. (Not from the tank, but from the inlet pipe.) Turns out to be a failed check valve...which turns out is on back-order.

So, the Durango sits at the dealer now waiting on a part. :( No hassles from the dealer and they were very apologetic...I'm in a 2011 Grand Cherokee as a loaner for now.

Other than that, I've had 5 months and 11,000 miles of trouble - free driving. Love the Daddy Wagon!

Re: Recall on Durangos

We're at 5500 miles since October, and I'm off to the dealer tomorrow for a first oil change (we're coming up on the 6 month mark).

They're also going to wind up replacing the UConnect radio which died trying to update to 14.05 this weekend, and fix a mis-mounted passenger side exterior door handle.

I'm interested to see how the service is as we didn't buy the car from this particular dealer.

Subscribing. I'm outside that range, but this recall has already been expanded once (originally no 14s were affected) so we'll see.

Looks like mine was built right outside of this date range.

At just about 5k mostly trouble free miles. Other than a random code for a misfire, no troubles at all for me.

I did a factory order in the beginning of March and am still waiting for delivery to the NYC area. I'm hoping that the delay is because they are fixing recall issues versus the train back up I heard about.
