Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

Picked up my new 2014 Limited EcoDiesel yesterday over in Idaho. The Jeep looked perfect and drove great off the lot and the majority of the 360 mile drive back to Tacoma was perfect. ACC worked wonderfully and averaged 28mpg. Just before exiting I-90 onto highway 18, cruise kicked off, check engine light came on and the transmission started slipping badly and shifting all over the place. Coasted to the side of the highway and restarted. It went into gear but still was slipping and shifting to random gears. It put itself into neutral and then park, then it wouldn't go out of park.

Got out and there's transmission fluid everywhere. Not only on the ground but all over the underside of the vehicle as well as a fine mist deposited on the rear. Just what I needed at 12:30AM after 700 miles of driving. WSP showed up and provided protection while I spent some quality time with the manual figuring out how to use the manual park release so the flatbed could take it. AAA flatbed took me home and Chrysler roadside took it to the dealer this morning. I hope it's just a cooler line or something, but seriously...
:wtf:

That sucks. I'm not really sure what to tell you. Hopefully it is an easy fix, but if not, I would push for a replacement. Either way, that is terrible luck and I'm sorry you had to deal with that after just a few hours of owning your new Jeep.

Where are you getting the Jeep repaired? I see you are in Tacoma. There is a big Jeep dealer there that also owns a smaller dealership in Enumclaw. That is where we bought our JGC last November. Funny...you travel from Tacoma to Idaho (Dave Smith?) for your Jeep and I travel from Coeur d'Alene to Enumclaw to get mine.

Anyway, our experience in Enumclaw was very good and we felt that this ownership group was good to deal with...my point is that hopefully the Tacoma dealership is cut from the same cloth and that if you have your car fixed there, it will be a positive experience.

Good luck.

Wow - that sucks. Hope it was just a loose connection. What was your build date and hour?

I'll have to look at it when it's done for the MDH. Last eight of the VIN is EC444xxx so it's a recent build. It got off the train last week.

If it ends up needing a transmission, I'll be telling Chrysler I need a new Jeep.

I would prefer a new transmission to a repair. Who knows what long term effect the fluid loss might have on the existing one.

I would ask for free extended warranty get coverage for a long time well beyond just the transmission

That would be quite discouraging, and maddening. Good luck.
