2000 Jeep Wrangler

Personally, I don't think that is a good trade. Swapping a 10 year old car for a 15 year old car does not seem like a good idea. Maybe others with more appreciation for the TJ will see things differently...

^agreed. Older jeep with more miles? I would get what you were set on,cash, and take things from there.

Im set on getting a wrangler i wanted a 06 or 07 JK the insurance is 750 for 6 months rather than 1300... sucks being a safe driver at 19 but having to pay for irresponsible sports car drivers

The TJ has a lot of mods & is built to do some hefty off-roading. Might not make an ideal daily driver & interior space is limited. The road manners may take some getting used to, so take that into consideration. Soft tops are loud at highway speed. Worth checking into, or at least test driving if you are willing to sacrifice some comfort for a nice trail rig. If everything is mechanically sound, it could be a solid deal. Yes, it's older & has more miles, but TJ parts are plentiful & not expensive with basic replacement. It was a sad day in Jeep history when they retired the 4.0 strait 6. I totaled my TJ in 2009 & miss it every damn day. In the back of my head, I'm always hunting for another one.

What he said.

If you are looking for a more serious off road machine, it is difficult, if not impossible, to beat the Wrangler. If you plan to drive it on the streets or even highways, your WK would be better by far, unless you just want to look kewl in a wrangler.

Your insurance company might be aware that Wranglers tip over far more easily than your WK would if driven like an on-road sports car instead of an off-road sports car, and that younger drivers tend to end up shiny side down or hung on a rock miles from the nearest road more often in these things. You might want to check around a bit with insurance companies to see if they surcharge wranglers in your area or driving group.

If it has the 4.0 six, mileage isn't that big a deal as that engine will probably still be turning when the sun goes nova. And, there are all sorts of mods for it.
Few minor items like the waterpumps tend to suck about as bad as the oil pressure sensors--both easily changed where I'd suggest any after market solid water pump, but the mopar replacement sensors appear to work.

If you could arrange for a mutual mechanical inspection, you might have a good trade. Still, being a cheapskate, I'd probably try to bargain some cash out of the deal.

My vote would be go for it, but then I'm half senile already.

I checked with my insurance company on a 2007 JK four door unlimited and its half the price of my WK to insure its 750 for 6 months instead of almost 1300
