CHR550 w/iPhone 4S - this accessory not supported

I just started getting this error a few days ago when connecting my 4S to the Lockpick. I use a dock extension cable, so tried removing it first and connecting to the Fat black 30 pin connection that comes with the unit. No joy. I've cleaned the contacts on the phone with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol, sprayed them with compressed air, still not working.

I upgraded to 7.1 a few weeks ago, can't say for sure if the problem started at the same time. Any thoughts on this??

Will it connect properly using BlueTooth?

The phone will pair w/Bluetooth, and all Uconnect functions seem normal.

FYI - this is a 2012 Overland with RHR 730, CHR550

That's good that it works properly that way. I only use BlueTooth to pair my iPhone 5s (and my iPhone 4 previous to that) to my 730N. I routed an Amazon cable from the inside of the storage bin where I have a 12v to USB power adapter, to my phone mount for a clean look. (I use the Amazon Basics cables because they are available in black)

I posted this after 5:00pm on a Saturday...

I will get ahold of Coastal. In the interim, I was hoping that someone may have experienced this issue already. My experience with Internet forums (your contribution notwithstanding) is that they can be a great source of information, and are often times ahead of manufacturers in identifying/troubleshooting issues.

So, um, there's that...

lol.. :) considering that im going to guess that about 98% of people here dont have a lockpick

but.. this took about 20 seconds to find
http://www.jeepgarage.org/f155/lockp...5-a-27237.html

it seems that the stock cord with the CHR550 is junk ... replacing it will fix it.

Yeah, I'm aware of the stock cable's shortcomings.

I got a brand new cable from Coastal last year because of this problem. I picked up a 3' dock extension at the same time, so that I was never connecting/disconnecting from the stock cable. The new 'stock' cable has been directly connected to my phone maybe 10 times since new, so hard to imagine it has failed already.

Still have to get in touch with Coastal...

For what that Lockpick cost...a call is definitely in order... ;)

Update:

It took a few weeks to get an answer. Coastal is not exactly what i would consider 'speedy' in following up email enquiries - at least on the support side.

Bottom line -- they have no idea what the problem is. They did propose a resolution though; I can buy a new unit at MSRP, so I've got that going for me...

Really disappointed in their response to this.

I'm half way tempted to register a domain like www.issueswithlockpick.com and then give it to my web guys to build some content/optimize the Google search results. It would take a few weeks, but I can just about guarantee that my site would eventually be the #1 search result for whatever tags I pick.
