Resetting Change Oil message?

I normally change my own oil. How do I reset the "change oil" message that comes on when I start my 2012 Liberty?

Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not start) and fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly 3 times within 10 seconds and then turn the ignition switch to OFF, then start the Jeep. The message should be cleared.

Sanjuro77. You are a Genius genius genius is all I can say. My WK2 was showing this message. I called dealer for appointment after checking my mileage and the next due date for servicing they told me oil change not needed. If I wanted I can go over to them for resetting the message.

Tried as advised and the message is no longer showing. Thank a mil. You saved me a trip and some money, I guess.

Cheers,
Muzzy

Re: Resetting Change Oil message?

Yep, just as the owners manual says:

"To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) refer to the following procedure.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times
within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure."

Re: Resetting Change Oil message?

Someone help!!!
I have tried this at least 10 times on my 2013 Grand Cherokee and the oil change message does not clear.
1. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine).
2. Fully push the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
3. Without pushing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once to return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position
ANY THOUGHTS?????

Re: Resetting Change Oil message?

Thanks for your response. I have tried slow, I have tried fast, I have tried pushing the accelerator 3,4,5, & 6 times but when I start the engine; I get the ping and the change engine oil message.

the only other thing i could think is make sure you are letting off of it completely and fully depressing to floor. Im sure you have done it every which way but thought i would mention.
