Max Boost?

What is the maximum boost you guys are seeing? I checked mine at WOT today on a 0-60 run and 18.5 psi is all I'm seeing. Seems low in comparison to other turbodiesels which produce 22-25 psi stock. Thanks.

Mine seems to get that 15-18 number until it's warmed up then it's in the low 20s

Mine will go above 18 at high load low rpm but at 3k rpm and above it won't exceed mid 18 psi.

Does yours hold 20+ through the rpm range at WOT?

I'll watch it though the range on the way home today and tromp it a few times - this is a screen shot I took awhile back though.

Thanks AMR. My Cat Temps are running a bit higher than I recall and boost seems lower. I hope my DPF isn't partially obstructed! Back pressure in the exhaust affects turbo performance and creates higher EGTs. My EGT at the Cat Sensor is running 680-750 on a flat 65 mph cruise right now.

I'm pretty sure that picture wasn't on the interstate, I actually seem to remember being that punching it on an on-ramp after sitting in traffic on a cold morning.

I usually am more in the temp range you are talking about. I'll check it out a little more after work today and see what I can get it to do.

I do know one morning my oil temp was still in the 170ish range and I stomped it leaving my neighborhood and watched the boost stop at 15.0psi and just hold there. Later after oil was to temp I was getting 20+psi.

Sounds like a movie title.
Say, starring Mel Gibson and Tina Turner...

Re: Max Boost?

AMR,

Thanks for the info. 23 psi at 3400 rpm is a healthy boost. Mine isn't getting there for some reason. I guess I'll drive it for a while and see if a few regen events don't clear it up.

I did 500+ miles on the interstate towing last weekend - so should have been all cleaned out.

Re: Max Boost?

We log the data into Excel from the Torque app....so parameters can be sorted 19.2 psi is the max we have seen.. but still running it in (kind of)

AMR,

On your iPhone app boost readings does your gauge show zero at idle? The reason I ask is that your boost is about 2-3 psi higher than mine. Mine spans -3 psi at idle to 19 at WOT. If your gauge is normalized to zero, that might explain the difference.
