LED DRL Identification

I bought my WK used and had no idea it had DRL's until I saw them on the other day when I was parking in front of glass. I see other WK's with halogens, but mine has LED bulbs in them.
I like them and was wondering if anyone could tell what size bulb it is and was this a stock option? Maybe the previous owner installed them?

The top portion that doesn't look neon isn't illuminating and I want to replace them.

That is definitely an aftermarket addition. The Bulb should be size 3157.

sure are aftermarket, and to add, the old owner installed them because the OEM bulbs were melting the headlight housing (the grey above where the lightbulb sits is not supposed to be there)

Re: LED DRL Identification

The reason you may have not noticed the DRL is because they only come on when the car is in gear.
I am glad they do that because I remember coming out of the car twice and in gear with the parking brake set and realized it was not in park.

I would recommend going with a set of the CREE LED bulbs.
I have a set and they look like 5K xenon when on.

eventhough the projector on the bulb is covered by the cap in the housing the output some great light.

I just schooled myself on some past threads. I see my sockets are burnt and that grey Racer83L mentioned above. I'm dropping it off at the dealership to have the top tray of my console replaced on Monday and I'm going to mention it to them.
I pulled my relays just now and will order some of those CREE bulbs.

Jeep addicted, Did you find that the Cree LED bulbs in the DRL's affected your reflector and bulb sockets like the original bulbs did? If not would you mind sharing which bulbs you purchased.
Thanks John

I have been following some of the posts in the Australian forum about the fogginess in the reflectors and some have complained that it came back even using the LEDs and I have had the same results but read down below to see why.

I will start out by saying this I have two cars with the same wiring powering the DRLs. I am using an aftermarket controller.

One is using COB (chip on board) LED only for the DRL and there is no additional fogginess added to the reflector.

The second one is using the CREE LED for the DRL and SRT style park lights.

What I have noticed is if you only use that socket for the DRL they don't heat up the socket as much but when you use them for park lights it heats up the socket more due to the added resistance used to dim bulb.

The short answer is if you switch to LED on a US spec car you have less likelihood of the fog to appear because the heat is greatly reduced from the incandecsant bulb.

Here is the link to the type I am using

Jeep addicted, thanks very much for your reply and the information & link you have shared. I like those bulbs you are using, guess I'll proceed with them. Once again thanks.
Regards, John.

These bulbs are claimed to produce 60 watts of light.

The electrical system benefits from any reduction in load.

There is no bulb monitoring (resistance recognition) on this circuit so no bilb out messages sjow up nor do you need to install any load resistors.

I would like to replace my fog bulbs with LED CREE. What do you think of this:
Is it good?

One more question. How much the watt rate for the standard halogen fog bulbs?
