getting ready to pull the trigger !!

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a JGC Overland Purchase !!! It is a 2011 with 33,xxx miles.. from what I can tell from the car fax the vehicle first sold on 4/4/11... from all you experienced jeep owners is there anything that I should be looking for that would deter me from purchasing this particular year of JGC Overland... Just wanna have all the right info and be protected with the piece of mind from experienced people... the good the bad and the ugly would be greatly appreciated..http://jeepgarage.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

Thanks

Yea, unless it's a REALLY good deal, I would look at the price of a new one. 4% below invoice is typical, the best deal available is the Texas group buy at 5.5% and the DC group buy at 7% + $500 (~6%).

Invoice on a 2014 Overland is $43,940 + $995 destination. At 6% off, you're looking at $42,299 (with destination) for a base Overland.

See here for additional:

I just ordered a 14' Limited 4x4 V6 with 8.4A (8.4" uConnect minus Nav) for $36k (just over 4% off invoice)

In 2011 your only option was a 5-speed transmission, which IMHO is a dog with the V6 engine. I got the Hemi in 2012 mostly because of more HP/torque, but also the 6-speed transmission gave a lot smoother driving experience. (6 speed was only available on the V8 2012-2013 MY)

I agree with polizei above. How much is the dealer asking for that vehicle? OTOH, you can't place any new factory orders until banks open on the 2015 model year, sometime in July I believe.

How much does it cost?

KBB is showing a 2011 Overland with 40k miles ranging from $28k (fair condition) to $32k (excellent condition) for private party sale.

At that price, not sure it is worth it to buy a 4 year old vehicle (2011 = first year of the new model) that is just a few miles shy of being out of warranty.

Obviously the Overland is loaded, but you could get a 2014 Laredo with 0 miles for about $29k and have 3/36k warranty, plus newer fascias.

Example: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 For Sale | Baltimore MD |

I'd say get a new one also. I had a 2011, it was great. The 14 I have now though is miles ahead of the 11's. If the price is even close you'd be better off in a 14.

The 8 speed transmission, the new nav and the refreshed front end/headlights are worth a few extra bucks.

Let us know what the cost on the 11 is.

The '11 I am looking at is 32,000 $ with 33,000 miles on it . Has everything that was included that year plus rear dvd system... My cap price is 33,000$. I see what everyone is saying about the newer models... But to get the things I want in a new JGC (which the used one has) would be well above my price range...

I'm seeing plenty of used 14 limiteds on the cars.com ap with low miles at your price point. Just FYI.

Anyway, congrats on you're upcoming car purchase. Let us know which way you go and good luck.

Used 14's is either previous rental's or buy back's etc; wouldn't catch me buying a used 14 at this point...

Re: getting ready to pull the trigger !!

The rentals are high miles and beat to death, you'd recognize one of them easily and I think the dealer has to tell you it's a buyback if I'm not mistaken. Should be able to avoid those two traps with a little research. It'd be worth the trouble.

If you can find a low mileage 14 that has a clean history you should at least consider it I'd think.

Well I did it. Bought a 2011 Overland in Bright Silver with black interior and silver piping. It has 27, xxx miles on it and is super clean... will hopefully get some pictures up this weekend if it ever stops raining. Thanks for everyone's opinion and sticking to what each other believes is the right choice... KCCO
