Rear Entertainment System

The new Roku 3500R Streaming Stick works wonderfully with the Rear Entertainment System! I've been testing it for nearly 4 weeks and the kids love it. I'm using my LTE Samsung Galaxy S4 as the mobile hotspot and the USB rear port to power the stick. One suggestion is to purchase a right angle Male/Female HDMI adapter otherwise opening the armrest will break the streaming stick (I've attached pictures) without the sideways adapter to keep it flush to the seat. The streaming stick does take a little while to boot up since you can't leave it on and opening up Netflix is much slower than on the Roku 3 version (though opening Amazon is much faster), but once streaming it works fine. This is a great solution if you don't want to deal with DVDs and want access to the many Roku channels. The surround sound and video quality has been superb. Unfortunately while using the mobile phone as a hotspot you are locked out of Wi-Fi mode and can't use the superior Roku remote app and must use the provided remote which is certainly good enough. In about two weeks I'll be testing two Roku streaming stick inputs simultaneously with head phones while streaming Pandora to the speakers.
