no shifter light

Hi everyone just joined today. Have a question, hope someone can help me.Shifter light strip was missing from shifter, knew this because when I bought my jeep from my sister she told me she had spilled some coffee down the shifter area. Upon opening shifter after not having lights down there for about 9 years found out someone had removed light strip, got light strip from junk yard installed and it WORKED for about 5 minutes, turned off car about 5 minutes later turned car back on light came on for 2 seconds then went back out never to come on again. Someone please help.

Welcome to the JG!! The strip may be bad, get ya a led light strip, wire it in and see if the shifter lighting works like normal. If it does, just upgrade your shifter lighting to LEDs (quite a few of us have upgraded interior lighting to LED's)

Re: no shifter light

Stick a LED strip where the stock one was, wire it into the stock strip wiring. Try a low brightness first then if you want brighter, work from there or find ya a dimmer switch. Mine's bright cause I upgraded my gauge cluster and thermostat to blue LED's and wanted my shifter to match.

You may end up really liking it and upgrading the rest of your interior lights lol. Seems like we all end up doing it.
