Trailer brake controller, wich model and where did you put it ?

Hi we just ordered a 4x4 Limited with the towing package for the wife.......and for me to take my Land Cruisers to Offroad events :D

Really looking forward to it but was wondering if it comes from the factory pre wired for a certain model of controller (Jeep accessory ?) or if you can use whatever you want?

So which models you guys and girls have installed and where did you put it?

I like it to be under the steering wheel somewhere for convenience but since it will serve as the wifes DD I don't think that's going to happen :slapfight:

Thanks for your input

Joe

Welcome Sir!

It Is Pre-wired and the dealer carries or can order a direct wire adapter to the P2/P3 Series controllers from Tekonsha. The plug is on the left up behind the parking brake peddle on 2014 North American models.

I have mine mounted in the Cubby and the standard wire reached based on my installation (I had to cut off the zip tie on the plug first and drill a hole in the back of the cubby)

The Factory option brake controller is not great, it is not proportional like the tekonsha, so any proportional brake controller is going to be better than the CDJ one.

2 Attachment(s)
Put mine under the drivers side dash.

Pull off the felt trim under the dash and simply utilize one of the existing screw holes.Attachment 40683Attachment 40684

Mine's same place where Willx has his. Punched a hole in back, and you can reach the manual lever on the bottom of the controller in an o' crap situation leaving the cubby door open while towing. I have the Prodigy P2, the same as I have had in my Land Rover and it works great. $125 on Amazon prime, delivered in 2 days.
