2011 lifetime maximum users

Ok so I'm debating on whether to purchase this service plan for my recently acquired jeep and wondering how much people have actually used the plan yet. This question is for those outside of the basic warranty and have had to use this service plan on their beautiful ride to have something repaired. What was your experience with the dealer with this plan and did it all go accordingly? Also, do you recommend it still? Thanks for reading!

Also this actually doesn't have to be applied to the 2011 model year. Just interested in those who have gone beyond the basic 3/36.

I had an extended plan (not lifetime) on my 1993 GC Laredo. They treated it just like a warranty claim. The dealership doesn't care who is paying and they love the fact that the payment is guaranteed. You won't have a problem.

The only issue with lifetime is that it is not transferable except in NC and FL I think (you'll wanna double check and could be three states). BUT you have to make sure your contract states it is transferable. I live in FL and bought mine through Zeigler in MI and for whatever reason (because the contract was sold in MI???? who knows) it didn't state it was transferable like it should have. A mistake and huge mess up.....ended up canceling because of their screw up and it cost me some money. If I buy one from them again I will make 1000% sure they don't mess it up again.

Bought GC in November 2013 and Lifetime Max Care from Ziegler in December. Haven't used it yet...the car hasn't even had it's first oil change.

Wondering if some of you are forgetting something that needs to be included in this discussion? The lifetime maximum warranty increases the value of your Jeep. Should you be unlucky enough to total your Jeep or get it stolen your insurance company must pay you for the value of the extended warranty too.

The best part for me is if I take my Jeep in for service there is a loaner waiting for me, even if My Jeep will be done the same day. Last time it was a Durango with 50 miles on the odo.

Excellent point on the potential increase for an insurance payout if it came to that. Thanks for everyone's input thus far.

I wish I had your dealer. Mine sent me across the street to Enterprise Rental where after waiting for 40 minutes I drove off in a spiffy Toyota Yaris. Worst car I have ever driven.

I will be at 36K in a couple months...but I've already used the rental/loaner benefit from my MaxCare lifetime service contract for recent warranty work.

Thanks for posting this thread, TNMadScientist. I was about to ask the same question.

In particular, the MaxCare contract verbiage says I would be responsible for sales tax ("You may be required to pay state and local taxes in addition to the deductible."). Is this sales tax on the $100 deductible, or the sales tax on the $4,000 part plus labor? I was hoping someone who has used the provisions of their MaxCare contract would be able to tell me.

Zybane cited some other concerns with the contract in this post.

Sales tax is a state-related item and has nothing to do with the actual service contract...Chrysler has no control over that. You'd be best addressing that question to your dealer to determine what the rules are for your state.

Thanks, but I don't necessarily trust the dealer salesperson to tell the truth (or even know for certain). Besides, what penalty would they face for lying? They can't modify the contract and a handwritten note saying "sales tax is only due on the deductible" would be hard to litigate if it turns out to be deception five years hence when I actually need the contract for the first time.

Surely someone has had a repair covered by their service contract by now and knows if the sales tax for the repair is simply $8 on the $100 deductible rather than $500+ on the list price of the parts + labor.
