Another Projector Thread

Hey All,

I'm not too bright with this whole retrofitting projectors business, but I have an odd question that I can't seem to find an answer for. I'm positive that I can't do it, but I'm just curious as to why...

How come you can't put a lens and shroud together with a 9005 HID kit and call it day?

Like how come one of the only options it to buy an H1 kit and the H1 bulb HID conversion?

Also, for anyone looking at this thread, can you point me in the direction to where I could view someone who sells those G3 projectors that work with 9005 kits?

Thanks in advance!

I'm a little late. It's because you need the actual projector. Your method seems like you just wanna stick a shroud in an existing halogen housing..... I suppose you could but you'd probably melt the plastic shroud and it would look pretty ridiculous.

hidplanet for the knowledge.

and then

the retrofitsource.com for the parts.

as to WHY this or that........the objective is to retro fit a PROJECTOR into a NON projector lamp.

could YOU have a different objective than everyone else......sure. enjoy.

Thanks guys, but I found my answer. The only real thing that the H1 minis and other projectors do is create a perfected cutoff shield and use a solenoid to rotate between high/low beam (many don't even use/want this function)

In fact, TRS sells dummy projectors to be used with high beams or turn signals when people want to produce a quasi-quad-projector retrofit. They even sell projector reflectors for $5 that go with the dummy projectors ($25) which make it look even more legit. It's useful for high beams/turn signals where cutoff isn't as important.

I did a quad retro on my WK and love the look.
Wound up taking the shield out of the projector for the high beam to give me much more light when I turn the high beams on.
