Thanks

Thanks for the new TBS (21-018-14).
I have a 2014 Cherokee Limited 3.2.
The Tranny is better at 1,ooo miles. Some days it shifts smooth as silk. Other days hard 12,23 shifts, with a thump into low at traffic stops. Very strange. Will have to check out the new TBS with Dealer.

Thanks...........Richard

Ask the dealer. make an appointment.
He will scan it for available updates.
If non show up he should be able to apply the TSB and depending on your software level another 2nd TSB for adaptive learn.
You need to tell him exactly what you said here.
A negative scan means nothing if you are having shifting issues.
The TSBs allow a case by case application of the correct TSB to fix issues with shifting.
It is apparent that your vehicle is having trouble with the AL.
These updates are designed to help complete the AL and smooth everything out.:)
Good Luck, Mike

I did the new TSB. No change. Erratic opereation. Some times smooth, and st times it throws you forward while shifting. Today, from a rolling stop, had to floor it to avoid an accident and the loud clunks from the tranny sounded like it was tearing itself apart. It finally clanged into some sort of gear and moved. Tell you a little story. I am truly not in love with this nightmare. So, I went to a couple of non Jeep dealers about a trade on a new car. Well there was a pat on the back and a smile.....then both dealers said, the word is out on Cherokee. Do not go near the car because of the TRANNY. I know the word is out....I am living it.

Best...........Richard

LOL, I have an 11/13 build Cherokee Limited, ADII, 3.2L, have never had any of the transmission TSBs done, and it runs and shifts just fine. If the "word is out" why can't my dealer (one of the largest Jeep dealers in mid Michigan) keep Cherokees on the lot because they sell so fast and why can't Toledo build them fast enough to meet demand. I am convinced the so called transmission problems have a lot to do with how the Jeep is driven and playing around with all the TSBs when they are not really needed. Those dealers are just trying to steal your Jeep Cherokee trade in by telling you what you think you already know and want them to confirm for you. I have a bad case of OCD/perfectionism and I can tell you that I am not having any problems with my Jeep Cherokee Limited II. Like the service manger says at my dealership, if it is not broken don't try to fix it by applying unneeded TSBs and thus causing a real problem.

Forty years flying . In the cockpit from pistons to jets and everything in between, and an engineering background.........so I truly apologize for overstepping my bounds. I should have known.....cars are not aircraft.

Thank you....Richard

That's a broad statement for these "NON JEEP DEALERS" to make.
I would guess they are just shooting their line of BS on the competition and getting you ready for a low ball on a trade in.
But time will tell.
I would suggest that you get your dealer to resolve the issue.
You may have to work it through Chrysler customer care also.
If an accident was almost caused then I would also suggest you file a complaint with the NTSB and also notify them that the dealer has been unable/unwilling to resolve it, if that is the case.

My Cherokee has been perfect now that I am past the AL phase.
A 12/11 build with no TSBs needed. At 4,000 miles most of the time you can not even feel the shifts.
There is absolutely NO reason that this Dealer can not resolve your concerns and make you a happy Jeep customer.

The one thing you do want to remember is that the TSBs do not negate the need for AL in your vehicle. The TSB just helps the process along.

Good Luck in the resolution of your problem. I'll be waiting to hear that it was resolved successfully and you are a happy jeepster.:)

Re: Thanks

My best to all. I am getting rid of it. I have spent over 12 hours in waiting rooms to have all the updates, procedures and to the letter all Jeep tranny inputs done and done again. My tranny suffers from the hand built layup of the origional tranny. There is some slop in the basic construction of the tranny.
So I am working on a trade with a non Jeep product.
It is a great car. But, I just was presented with a bad one. And, at my age I am not going through the agony of dealing with Jeep.
You are a great group of people.
Thank you.....Richard....rfranchi@comcast.net
