Snatch Strap Kit recommendations for the GC?

With now only 6 weeks to wait, itís time to look for a basic recovery kit for the GC. Just to be safe and prepared on Stockton..20 mins away
Looking at ARB, TJM, Supercheap ect there are so many option and prices out there.
So for the weight of our vehicle and the pull of the tow vehicle if ever required ;)what are good kit / strap(MBS) options that I should look for?
The family is very excited about our new 4X4 adventures to come, so we will take it slow learning new driving skills and techniques, but would like to have our own gear handy should I get us a little stuck.....
I'm thinking kit, so I just pick up the bag and go with my recovery gear.
So open to what people use and any recommendations....

Cheers

My first recommendation is don't buy from ARB. I'd check out Just Straps https://www.juststraps.com.au/. Local company based in Castle Hill with great service and products.

And don't buy a coloured TJM strap - the dye comes off on your hands....

Once you've done the research and decided on a quality strap and some rated d shackles, you'll have to think about where to connect them.
Your new Jeep won't come with recovery points, and it will be an expensive exercise should you have to connect up a strap without them.
They are available, and there is a comprehensive thread on this forum that relates.
If you aren't familiar with a strap and it's potential I would suggest some 4wd training. These things can be lethal and the web is full of scary examples.

Could not agree more.

Getabout Training http://www.getabout.edu.au/run days at Stockton and I highly recommend them - they ran a day for some of us "JeepGaragers" last year and I'm sure all who attended found the day very informative.

Thanks guys, all good points and yes training course is on the list. Best of all they are not far away.
Copy on the hooks. Plenty of discussion on that subject, but we have good options now.

Training wise I am going to do the level 1 course this Sunday with http://www.4wdoffroad.com.au. Max 8 cars and a focus on teaching you have to safely recover your 4WD and tackle 4WDing.

I purchased a nice recovery kit with everything in it a few weeks from http://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au, I got the full kit as it came with the tow bar hook as well. http://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/prod...overy-kit.html

I also up Purchased an Air Compressor as it is important to have one should you need to take pressure out of your tyres to get out of a situation. http://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/prod...ompressor.html

First to admit I probably won't need it all but I figure if I get stuck and am with someone else I will have as much as I can to use my stuff to get out rather then relaying on someone else to have the gear.

MMAG - if you are serious about doing training with Getabout I'd be happy to try and swing a discount as a jeep garage referral. They looked after the group I arranged before so they may be willing to extend a discount. PM me if you are serious. No promises, but worth a try...

Think about some maxtrax or similar. You aren't reliant on another car then.

When I was asking around on a priority of things to get the first thing everyone said apart from tyres was a air compressor, tyre guage then they said snatch and radio.
I think the next would be the maxtrax but spent a fortune lately.

You got good advice, and you will enjoy the training as well as get lots out of it.

Yes, definitely air compressor and a good quality gauge.

Good find, I like what I see.
GMW2k
Training at Stockton is on the list but not for a few months yet.
Jeep expected to arrive at Port Kembler next month.
AQIS, Compliance & jeep servicing before it even gets to the dealer 3 weeks later.
Then a few weeks to fit all my new accessories and a few Km's on the new machine before any sand work.
But will send you a PM well in advance of the sand adventures. Can't hurt to ask. Thanks for the offer. Appreciated.
