Plastidip

anyone have experience with plastidip? I want to paint some of the chrome accents on my jeep black but I am worried that using a product like plastidip will eventually chip off.

Re: Plastidip

if you do it properly it can last years.

if it does chip, you peel it off and do it again.

its cheap enough.

Yes, I do agree with rob..... its way cheaper and easy to do... another advantage you can keep the original trim and if u want to go back just peel it off....

I have done my wheels a mnt before and its holding very well.....

Plastidip

I think the full cure time is a week and it hardens.. Had mine in the emblems and door molding for almost a year with no issues

Re: Plastidip

I plasti-dipped the wheels on my Subaru and the chrome trim on the Jeep. it lasted over a year now and it is still in such good shape that I will be plastic-dipping the wheels on the Jeep as well. And people are correct - at least 1-2 more coats after the surface turned black (4-5 coats in total) and lots of sunshine for a few days.

Thanks guys I am getting some black and also the gloss finish to put on after the black coat. Have you guys used the gloss finish that you put on after your base color?

Nvr used it but from what I read it only lasts a few days perhaps weeks and goes back to a matte finish

Use glossifier only if u need a glosy finish.... some people prefer just matt finish, in that case u need only the black plastidip....

When you use plasti dip put a light coat to cove around 50% -60 % at first. Then apply 3-4 nice and even coat, wait 10-15mnts in between the coats... once the black is done wait for 30 mnts and apply glossifier, 2 coats will be enough.....

would love to see some pic once u r done....
