Brake Squeal

hey guys... a few months back i installed the hawk brake pads. i put them on... no noise... low brake dust... all was good... but the last month the front brakes have been making some noise while under long, easy braking.... jam on the brakes hard i have no noise... only under moderate braking... i talked to a buddy and we are trying to figure it out but i was wondering if anyone else here have had that same issue and what they have done to help it.

any help would be great.
thanks fellas

Semi metallic with make a tiny bit of noise if you baby them. I've heard a squeak from mine a time or two. ...but most of the time I drive with my 19 speakers blarring. ...so I'd never hear it amyway....lol

I had the same problem I would come to a stop and breaking normally would cause a loud squealing noise and would have to really press on the brake to go away. Idk took a road trip to montauk last weekend ever since then it's been gone no noise. Weird

I had the same issue with the StopTech's I put on the rears...long story short I had a hairline crack in 2 of the pads (probably from shipping) replaced with the stock pads and noise is gone. I would have gotten more stoptech's but didn't want to wait.

Dom,

I know I already told you this and showed you this product but Ill share again for any one else looking for a good easy solution. Mine squealed very badly when I first got them and I could not get them to go away. One of my good buddies who does most of my mechanic work on my jeep showed me this product and put it on my pads and never had them squeal again.

Here is the link to the CRC Brake Quiet Spray which is designed specifically for this problem.

Re: Brake Squeal

If brake pads don't come with an adhesive paper to apply to the back of the pad, the product mentioned or something like it should always be used. The noise comes from the back of the pad rubbing of the piston if something causes the pad to vibrate. It could be something as common as dirt, which will sometimes disappear. Once you press hard on the pedal the added pressure stops the vibration.

Follow the instructions on the spray can. They often have a wait time between spraying the pads and reinstalling them.

Good luck.

Ordering this now to try. My Hawks have displayed this problem since I put them on - it drives me effing nuts. I don't hear it too much now with the windows up (it's hot as hell here) - but when the weather is nice I like to have everything open and the squealing SUCKS.
