Continental CrossContact LX20 265/50R20

Looks like Continental has added the 265/50R20 size to the CrossContact LX20. Tire rack has that tire as number 1 in the Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season class. Price is good also. Anyone have any experience with it?

It does look like a very nice tire from the specs, etc. The one issue with the comparison on TireRack is that the chart only includes tires that they offer...no Nitto, etc., which would be nice to be able to compare.

Greetings,

I do not have these tires.

The tire uses a softer tread compound to achieve the fuel savings. The other nice feature is the depth of the tread is 12/32 to help with water build-up. However, if you look close at the outer tread blocks, they are not open as a traditional all-tertian tire. Personally, I like to have an open tread design to evacuate the water as fast possible. For winter driving, it does give it average marks, so keep that in mind.

Otherwise, it looks like a nice tire and nice price for a Continental tire. It just boils down to were and the purpose for your trips in order to meet your demands.

Best for now.:)

I agree Jim, they only sell tires that they sell a lot of so it is not a good comparison of the whole market but only what they sell. I also think that how a tire performs is very dependent on the vehicle it is on. A tire may do fine on a little econ box SUV but not fine on a heavy grand Cherokee or Tahoe their surveys don't take that into account. So it is good to hear from people who actually have the tires on their jeep. Even so it is still good to see a tire in the number one spot with our size :)

That Continental was also rated number 2 by Consumer Reports, just behind the Michelin MTX M/S 2.

To correct myself, it was actually given the same overall rating.

All Season

A/T (notice a few most popular tires missing from list?)

Sad that even the CR report is missing a lot of tires that we talk about here...

So after much back and forth between a bunch of tires and getting another nail in my Fortera's (55k on them and just about done) I went ahead and bought a set of these Conti's

I go to the Outer Banks once or twice a year and deal with snow and ice as we get it here in VA, other than a light trail or two it is an on road WK2...

Went back and forth for months:

Toyo Open County HT or Versado CUV
Yoko Prada Spec X
Another set of Fortera's

Hopefully these will do what they need to and live up to the 70K warranty or at least get to 60k, save me a tad on the MPG's, and ride better and quieter than the Fortera's did.

how is the ride, smooth or do you feel every bump, did they balance ok? Are they fairly quiet?

Only about 20 miles on them, but I actually can feel a real ride difference from the worn out Fortera's. Super Quiet and smooth. Gonna hit the concrete highway tomorrow for the real quiet and smooth test...

Didn't have any balance issues or anything on install that they told me. I had them out on out my local Ford dealer.

I will drive it for the week and report back with some real results.

I will also add the rim guard is nice. Only have a small scuff on one wheel, but glad there will be a bit of security there now.
