WJ cooling swap!

I have a 99 wj 4.0L I6 and my sister has a 2001 WJ 4.0L I6 and she has this huge metal fan coming from her engine (attached to the water pump pulley or whatever) witch is ALWAYS on and pushing crazy amounts of air. Is there a way to get this fan for mine and just bolt it on in the same spot? It looks like the same spot on mine (water pump pulley or whatever) is already threaded to accept something. Would I just have to find the fan used and bolt it on? Any issues with that? Anyone know where to find the fan itself online? Thanks for the help again guys in my time of bordness haha!

Yeap its a regular old fan clutch and assembly that you can pick up as an aftermarket accessory or from the dealer. Its a pretty easy install from what i have seen on other forums. My 4.7L has one already otherwise its something i would put on if i didn't have it.

Can you provide me with any links? I can not seem to find this fan anywhere...and the only guide I saw seemed a bit complicated and wasn't even for the fan connected to the engine that I want.

quick question!! im not to familiar with the 4.0L Do you have electric fan now? if so i think i would stick with the electric fan over the clutch fan setup, the clutch fan will take power from your mototr to turn tha big mofo. you will notice the diffrence prolly in the gas mileage too. is there something wrong with your current setup>>>?

On the WJ's, the fan relay blowing from the E-fan operation is a common problem and is a PITA if you have to replace it. Here is a link to a thread from another site that should be what you are looking for. http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...d.php?t=496635 Go with all genuine MOPAR parts on this one, they really should not be that expensive. A good quality fan clutch will not rob a lot of power at all from the motor to run. Infact, you probably wont even notice any differences with one or without. This will keep the engine cooler if you need to or just want to do this as an upgrade.

You are using more of your motor to turn that big fan it will use up some of your power, I know from experience my 87 bmw with a inline 6 and had a clutch fan on it. i took that clutch fan off and replaced it with a electric unit. i got better mileage and i had a snappyer rev and a bit more power. i just never saw people go from electric to clutch fan's. what's the point?

Maybe the "probably wont even notice any differences with one or without" is more of a misnomer if anything the way i said it. However with the mechanical fans i have seen lately, on my Jeep for that matter, being viscous rather than a direct drive. In the case of the viscous, the clutch will not engage until necessary. I would assume that it would use less power then that of an older direct drive system. But yes, i would not say you are totally wrong.

I have the electric fan that is standard on the 99-00 WJs. My sister, who has the 2001 WJ has the fan i have on the radiator, and then another fan (big metal fan) attached to the engine on the center pulley (water pump?) It is ALWAYS running and blowing TONS of cold air around. I WANT that setup. If it is on the same model but newer year then it should not be that big of a difference in power and gas mileage. I am just wanting to know if I just need to buy the fan she has and screw it on....the part on mine is already threaded so....
