Buying Diesel Checklist

Ok. I have done some searching, but need some quick responses as I am going to pick it up tomorrow.

1. UConnect latest version
2. Top off DEF
3. MFG Date check
4. ??

Test drive to be sure it's what you expect then enjoy.

Thank you. I test drove one just the other day. Not the one I am going to buy, but I love the diesel.

My main concern is those little things you don't remember until the deal is done and you are long gone. I read a bunch about the DEF not being full, so I added that to the list.

You might find this exhaustive checklist useful: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/my14-...ml#post1029871

The checklist focuses heavily on alignment of trim, etc., which seems to have been a problem with many early-build vehicles. I couldn't see any problems on mine. I did ask the dealer not to install any dealer decals. Some people prefer not to let the dealership prep the car (they may leave swirl marks), and in some states you might not want them to drill holes for a front license plate. If you want to remove any of the standard Jeep insignia, you could ask the dealership to do that for you.

I suggest you schedule the pick up early in the day. You want time to resolve any issues, and good visibility for inspecting the vehicle.

I got a full tank of diesel, and the DEF level was full too. That seems to be true at many dealerships, so I think you should expect that.

Good luck!

Make sure they fill the fuel tank or reimburse you for the cost of doing that since it will take close to a 100 bucks if empty.

Frankly I did a walk around and look see to be sure I was good to go but facing a 12 hour drive I didn't have time to make sure every little thing was good. I know my local dealers can correct that.

By the way you can download the latest UConnect version online using a memory stick so it is no big deal is not updated.

Good luck great vehicle...

There is a long checklist posted, but it will take a full day to go thru. Just a quick visual inspection, and insist on a full tank of fuel and top off DEF and you should be good. Try to get them to throw in a few free oil changes. Congrats on the new ride.

Ha Ha. The free oil changes are good at any dealer.

I would not top off the DEF if you live in a hot area as the fluid does expire. I don't keep more than 1/2 tank of DEF in my vehicle. It doesn't cost that much so don't worry about that aspect of it.
