Holy Schitt - RR SVR Ring in 8:14

Range Rover Sport SVR laps the 'Ring in 8:14 [Video] | New and Used Car Reviews, Research & Automotive-Industry News & LeftLaneNews

Look, I hate Range Rover. It's not an envy thing, I just hate them. I can afford one, I just hate them. They are nice looking, I just hate them. Did I mention I hate them? Worst of all are the people they typically appeal to. My douchiest friends of all...do they drove Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lambo? No, douchiest friends drive Range Rovers.

Now you know I'm not biased. Holy Shit that's a fast time. 2012 SRT Jeep did it in 8:49. Now keep in mind the RR obviously has spent a lot more time testing and tuning for that track whereas the Jeep came out of the box and made a few runs. Still, that's smoking.I'm sure a 2014 SRT that practiced could get it into the high 8:20s low 8:30s.

I fully expect SRT to stop making excuses and give us a 2018 SRT Jeep with the 6.2SC, 300-500lbs reduced weight for $80k loaded (minus TVs, etc,). If they do this it will be sold out at MSRP.

Lol, by 2018 the range will be doing 7s. We need something now, or soon. 2016 Hellcat Jeep; absolutely necessary. That is all to say that Chrysler cares about an SUV title (doubt it).

That's pretty darn impressive Onroad/Track performance indeed!

And it can also still go Offroad!

Wish there was a Jeep Grand Cherokee version that could compete with it performance-wise in BOTH arenas.

^^ Putting the Hellcat into this generation won't help the Ring time much. Putting the Hellcat in the Jeep would be the dumbest business decision ever (I am in business). It makes absolutely no sense. You have a model (SRT Jeep) that is selling great and is very profitable. It will likely stay that way for the rest of its' life cycle. Why dump all that R&D etc. to put it where it's not needed? You wouldn't. To break even they'd have to charge $100k+ for it. When SRT released the 2012 they knew that the X5M and ML63 and Cayenne TT were faster. What's another faster SUV going to do to inspire that?

Better yet, wait until you can roll everything into one with the next platform. One SRT engine for the Jeep which means one type of tranny, differential, etc. thus reducing the unit cost.

I'm willing to bet $1 on this.

That's probably a $150k suv......double our price...who cares?

^^ i do. The SRT attitude which started with the viper back in the day was beat everything, even if it costs 10 times more. $70k slaughtering $300k. For $80k jeep can do it. IDFG about off-road as that will add tens of thousands of additionally MSRP.

I wonder how much free publicity Jeep could get by running a Hellcat SRT around the 'ring, then selling that record-setting unit at Barrett-Jackson.

Listen I have the possible fix right here. Chrysler should offer this hellcat type of supercharger for certain engines/cars like the 5.7,6.1,6.4 hemi motors as a dealership modification with 30,000 mile warranty on the blower.

It should include new fortified internals, program, and blower for a reasonable price and offer it like an option on the truck. If I am not mistaken they did some thing like this on the Cadillac Escalades a while back. If we want it we pay for it and if we don't then we don't. But IMO we got a steal of a deal I think for a 65k truck that looks like this and does everything it does now normally aspirated. So I would have paid for this option if it was available.

And imho...the 2014+ will do A LOT better at the ring. Just a feeling.

The same person driving the RR should run a '14 down the ring and see how it stacks up. I also have a feeling the 14 would do much better compared to the 12.
