05 Grand Cherokee Limited Window Issue
Hey guys I am a new member to this site but have been reading the forums for a while so I figured it was time to join. I bought a 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited last November and I love it except I've been having some trouble with the front windows. It seems to me when I drive on the highway (70 MPH+) and its really windy outside that it sounds like the front windows are slightly open. You don't feel any air coming in so they are not actually open but it just sounds like it. It almost feels like they are not closing all the way or that there is an air leak in the seals. The weird part is that it only does it sometimes not all the time. I noticed it happens a lot more often when I drive faster 80MPH+. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or have heard of it. I was thinking of possibly replacing all the seals around the door and windows but I'm not positive its that. There are no water leaks either when you go through a car wash. It usually doesn't bother me too much because I just turn up the radio but when you drive for a long period of time it gets kind of annoying. The windier it is outside the louder it is from what I noticed. Any of your inputs would be appreciated! :)

maybe buy just one seal and see if it helps. rubber does shrink and stiffen over time........

Re: 05 Grand Cherokee Limited Window Issue
If you have access to a FSM (Factory Service Manual), I bet there is some adjustment from within the door (sometimes they have a minor screw at the top of the outside of the door, after you pull down the big rubber piece at the end (not sure on this one though). [EDIT - I went outside to look at it and it does not have the rubber piece I am talking about, but did notice there is a round, black sticker on every door covering a hole, near the latch, although no idea if it's for the window track adjustment...Surely somebody here has a manual and can take a look]

I like to use silicone lubricat (although a grease works better) on my rubber weatherstripping to keep it supple, but those little wind noise issues are maddening and glad this one doesn't have it yet (my 06 GTO did (wasn't supposed to, but needed adjustment) and it drove me nuts).

Re: 05 Grand Cherokee Limited Window Issue
So to I looked a little more into the seals and I noticed this huge tear in them that I must have missed before. I called the dealer to get a replacement part and found out it costs $60 for the new seal. Anyone know if there are other places to get it that is cheaper or is that my only option? I hope that just replacing this piece will make the wind noise stop, its driving me crazy.

Also what type of grease do you put on the rubber that you were talking about? Does any type work? I wanted to do it to all the rest of doors so the rest of the seals last longer.

Thanks for the help

Re: 05 Grand Cherokee Limited Window Issue
this 3m stuff works good, although not sure the best place to buy it and I'm sure you could find it in a good auto parts store (not one of the chains so much).

I just use silicone spray lubricant but the grease would be best...GM makes some stuff too and would imagine chrysler must list something in the owner's manual, etc. (for a mopar #)

Re: 05 Grand Cherokee Limited Window Issue
were you able to get rid of that wind noise issue, I'm having the same issue with my 08 but the weather strips on mine are in perfect condition.
