Medic hood paint problem
anyone who painted their fg medic hood have this problem?

after the base coat of Inferno was started wrinkling and rolling like shown in the pic. So they reworked the one spot shown...added water based primer and it did the same thing. These spots are all over the top of the hood. Anyone else face this? We have some ideas on what to do and a PPG paint pro is coming to look at it Monday...just thought maybe another owner ran into this and had some insight.

Re: Medic hood paint problem
I didnt get it from fiber images or young medic...I bought this hood from a forum member and it was painted black. My shop suspects that they used some sort of cheap or acrylic paint. I have been talking to the previous owner and he mentioned that one of his friends said they may have used some kind of "long duration cure" paint????? I have never heard of that. The paint was in really bad condition when I bought it...but no peeling, wrinkling etc. It just looked like it was done with a rattle can or very poorly. It had some orange peel, low spots etc. I talked to Daniel in Texas(he painted Wades hood aand several others)...and he suspects that the solvents from the FG are coming out for some reason and he recommends heating the hood up and letting it cool to help pull out the solvents.

Re: Medic hood paint problem
the problem has been acrylic or rattle can paint. A PPG rep tested the paint and it was an old acrylic paint probably from a rattle can or from an old pint someone had laying around. Probably a $100 paint job. This will be the last time I buy anything like this on any forum. My shop and the PPG rep believe this hood was ruined from the start and thats why it was sold. So....Im going from an easy $350 the $1000 repair and repaint. The hood has to be stripped down and completely refinished. My "great deal" has went to "great flop"
