Liftgate false open errors and setting alarm to go off

Morning guys and gals,

Yesterday, I thought I was going crazy or maybe someone was messing with me. I'm sitting in the living room and my alarm goes off. I thought maybe I set off the panic but my keys were nowhere close to me to sit on and when I did set off the panic it was a totally different alarm. Anyway, this happened 3 or 4 more times which made me think that one of my friends got ahold of my second set of keys and were messing with me. Well that wasn't the case... apparently my liftgate is malfunctioning and setting off my alarm. I found out the warning indicator is saying the liftgate is open but it's not. I opened and closed my liftgate and thought that was it but it kept going off... 15 minutes to 30 minutes later. So I decided to manually lock the doors to avoid activating the oem alarm.

Have y'all run into this? If so, any tips on how to resolve this issue? Or should I just take it to the dealer? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!

I think there is a recall for this. It's more than likely an easy fix, such as unplugging the connector and replugging it back in.

A stab in the dark, but try disconnecting the negative cable from the battery to reset the computer.

Anybody else any ideas?

Aaron

Basically, you will need to swap 2 wires.

I have also heard of owners bending the latch ever so slightly
