new rims

so i plan on getting some new rims, im going to keep my stock rims and tires for winter and have my 20's on in summer......so my question is do i need to buy a new set TPMS's for my new rims since i will be putting my stock rims back on in winter.......and where do i buy a new set that will work with my new rims........do you have to reprogram anything with the different sensors (since obviously different tire size will have different PSI)...........ya get what im sayin or am i just rambling, enlighten me

Re: new rims

also another question.......a soon as i get my ksport coilovers i will be dropping my ride in the summer and raising it back up in the winter, do i have to get an alignment every time i drop and raise it?

Re: new rims

yes on the alignment. by raising and lowering the spring height, the front end geometry changes.

if you BUY the correct TPMS, same part number, then it will all just WORK. if they are different, then never work.

you could switch from one rim to the other, but that will cost a mounting/balance fee every months for all 4 wheels.

Re: new rims

i shouldnt have to rebalance them every time right? i can mount them myself (not hard haha) so i pretty much just need an alignment when i drop and raise it and should just have to pay for an alignment

"i can mount them myself (not hard haha)"

ummmmmm have you ever 'broken a bead' on a 20???? without a tire machine.......I dont think so!

i would buy a 'lifetime' alignment.

Re: new rims

i dont plan on taking the tires off the rims......... mounting them on the vehicle myself is what i meant

stock rims, stock tires, stock tpms = winter
new rims, new tires, new tpms = summer

that explain it better, so i just pretty much need an alignment every time i drop and lower and just a simple swap of rims

Re: new rims

you got it bro. thats it.

last thought is to MAKE sure the new TPMS are the same part number as your OLD tpms. there are at least 3 different part numbers 05-10.

Re: new rims

what does the with or without nut mean? is that the part that sits on the rim? the '08 doesn't have them? thanks,

Re: new rims

I got tired of my TPMS stems corroding to the point at which I couldnt even fill them with air so I went to some old fashioned rubber valves, my low pressure light is on all the time but its a small price to pay for not having to worry about spending a fortune to buy and replace the TPMS ones. =D
