Gas Milage 4.7

I bought my 06 WK about 2 months ago, had 40K miles on it, gas mileage was terrible, getting around 11 or less in the city, and 15 - 17 on the hiway. 2 weeks ago, changed the plugs, (champion copper core), air filter, changed oil and filter over to Royal Purple, front & rear brake pads and turned rotors, change xfer case and rear end fluids w Royal Purple and valvoline gear lube, cleaned trottle body w. berryman chemtool, flushed radiator, and added seawater to fuel to clean the injectors. Now getting 13 or a little better around town, then I took a long road trip, over 600 miles, and got 20 - 21 on the hiway, using cruise at 70 mph.
amazed at the diff. a little maint. can do - I was thinking about a CAI, but now, not so sure..... I think I'll put the money towards new rubber.

I have a 06 with about 60k on it. Im getting about what your getting now. 13-15 city and 20-23 hwy at 70mph.

Im about to do some work on it: intake, exhaust, programmer, and ported throttle body from flyin ryan here. Along with new plugs, synthetic oil, and some other bits.

You can get a tune. Go with Superchips. Kind of pricey but from what I heard you can actually help bring your gas mileage up.

That's good to know. I just got a 2" lift with 32" tires and took a small hit on my gas mileage in my 4.7. I'm thinking about going this route, and from your experience it looks like the right way to go!

Not to mention, the stealership I bought the Jeep from had 10w-30 oil put in the engine. I'm guessing switching to synthetic 5w-30 is gonna help a lot.

I was getting about 9mpg then I changed my plugs, oil to M1 synthetic, added a K&N intake and now im getting about 10.5-11 in the city but I also drive it a lot harder since I added the exhaust and intake, I use autostick more and let it get up in the RPM's. I use to get about 13mpg going to work in town but I wasn't driving as hard. It's hard to not get on the gas when you have an exhaust. =D

I have an '05 and the gas milage is HORRIBLE also 8-9 city.. Last month I did a 300 mile roundtrip to and from upstate NY and got 22 MPG. I think I'm gonna get a tuneup next after it comes out the body shop.

I plan on using the superchips gas saver tune, then the flow improvement will add to my easy driving already. Since that flashpaq is so damn small i can keep it in the jeep if i want to change it.

I did those mods on a 4cyl honda and i gained 3mpg. I drove alot, so that added up for me really fast. - intake and catback

haha yeah but with the extra sound and power you will drive it harder and use autostick more because it sounds even better.
