My Dad is looking @ an SRT8

So I had a long easter talk with my Dad and my Mom drove my Jeep...they want to sell her Audi S4 conv and get an SUV...they had been looking at the X5M, Cayenne GTS, and RR SC (all of which I love, and lean towards the Rover)...but I told him that he could get an SRT8 for half of all of those vehicles and when my mom drove my Jeep she was actually very surprised. Once they sell her car, things will get serious :)

They will probably getting Silver (Joe :)) and I have a couple questions...can you 2010 guys post up your rebates and what you ended up paying for your SRT8? Also, it seems pretty obivious to get the Option 1 & 2 pkgs, right? I love the auto headlights and I believe they are in pkg #2...seems like low 40's + tax/licensing is market rate...thanks in advance guys...and man am I stoked if we can get an SRT8 in the family :D

X5M FTMFW!!!

Faster than the SRT8 too! (according to C&D or one of those mags)

Honestly, if I was them, I'd wait for the new body style. The WK is an old body style (5 years) and us WK owners are soon going to be the WJ's of the board.

While I love the X5M, the price is killer. :(

As far as faster, yes in the quarter mile it is. A nice CAI and CMR tune can fix that. Then the only way the X5M will beat you is past 120 and seriously when do races in the street go past 120? Rarely.

Dont listen to Matt. Do not let them wait for the new bodystyle. :p

While yes the WK1 body is 5 years old, so what? Get a 7/70 bumper to bumper warranty on that bitch and you're golden.

Good luck on the SRT.

Agreed! The SRT8 is a much better value and dollar for dollar none of these SUV's can compete with it, IMO of course.

Then your warranty goes... and not many 'older' folks are going to be modding. But I see your point. And parts/mods are definitely cheaper for the Jeep.

When does anyone race in the street anyways

If I was spending $40k+ on a brand new vehicle, I'd want to get something newer... like 'the latest and greatest' so-to-speak. Buying a brand new vehicle in its last year of production... I don't know, I wouldn't want to. The body style is old news at that point, even if the car is new.

(not trying to hate, just tossing about my couple of pennies - I gotta keep shit in perspective ya know, LOL)

4.4-liter, 32-valve M TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine with High Precision Direct Injection, cylinder-bank comprehensive manifold (CCM), and 4 overhead camshafts

555 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque

No muscle there, eh? ;)

Oh for sure, it takes a couple years for the new body styles to 'take over.' Especially on forums.

That's kinda my point (made in the other thread that Joe started). The SRT8 is all muscle. Nothing else.

It doesn't stand a chance against the X5 as far as fit and finish, interior, electronics, features, the list goes one.

It's like the Corvette vs 911. Sure the Corvette is cheaper and is all muscle... but which would you rather have?
