Which products to use for detailing

Ineed advice on what products to use.
I have just been using cleaner wax and wax. I have a somewhat neglected 98 TJ with swirl marks that is chile pepper red(so its a dark color) and an 05 WK that is silver. Both vehicles are garaged now for the past year. I would like for the paint to look a lot better than what either one does now.
I would like to know products and if I should get an orbital buffer and what pads.

I know I need to clay bar and was thinking I was going to try zaino but think it would take quite a bit of coats to get the swirl marks out of my 98 wrangler.

honestly i think zaino is hype but that's my opinion...
if you don't want to order online you should be able to get meguiars ultimate compound and meguiars swirlx. that's the equivalent to their 105+205 combo from their prof line.

wash car
clay
wash again
compound
swirlx
sealant(meguiars nxt 2.0)
wax(meguiars #26)

^^Just added 2.0 yesterday.. let it sit overnight if you can (if not an hour or two is ok) then add the #26

yeah 12 hours is idea to let 2.0 cure before topping with #26

you need a rotary or a da polisher to get the swirls and scratches out the "easiest". But.....you can use Meguiers M105 and M205 by hand...but its gonna be hard work. Ive never used the swirlx or the ultimate compound...so I dont recommend them to anyone. The 105 and 205 is the best for what you need based on what Ive used. Theen top it off with the #21 Meguiers sealant and then P21s Concours carnuaba

I have a black wk limited, anyone know a good way to get the bug gut and bird stains out of the paint on the front of the hood?? ( I know...new paint), BUT IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE.

I would try a Lake County Blue Grout Sponge and heavy solution of degreaser (Dawn dish soap). After that I'd hit it with a clay bar. After that I'd polish (M105/M205).

I would guess that would get it out.

Re: Which products to use for detailing

guys i just want to say something about meguiars 105.. i am well aware scott has used it and likes it BUT it is the STRONGEST compound they make! Meguiars preaches least aggressive to most aggressive!

Ultimate compound works on our clear coats and can be bought locally for $9. it is A LOT friendlier to use than 105(less dust, doesn't flash as quick, longer work time)

IF ultimate compound doesn't work after 4-5 passes THEN try 105!!!

i've used both UC and 105, again depends on factors such as how bad your finish is as well

Re: Which products to use for detailing

just to put this out there, there isnt any product in the zaino line that will remove swirls. They have a product that makes swirls less visable but they dont have anything that will cut. Ive used their products and it is really good stuff just buy a compound elsewhere to remove swirls and perfect paint and then use the zaino stuff to polish and seal the paint, it will pop with that stuff.
