WK Makeover

Alright guys, so my shocks are blown, so I think its time for a makeover. Help me out here.

1. I want new shocks and a 2" lift. I want to know the cheapest way to do this, maybe a 2.5" lift. I need to know if there is a combo on what to get and if not what parts. Also, what kind of suspension does an 05 WK have?

2. I want some BFG AT's. I have stock rims and want to keep stock rims, so what tire size would look and function best on an 05 WK with a 2-2.5" lift?

Thanks guys.

Personally... Putting something under the springs is just retarded. Get a proper kit, OME Medium Duty. Its like 650$ but IMO well worth it. Springs AND shocks are longer, giving you lift and better ride. From what I read on reviews, it looks like the OME shocks are some of the best shocks for a lifted Jeep ( heard there awesome bilstiens out there too, but OME was most mentioned).

Off jeep forum:
Q: What is the biggest tire you can fit without a lift?

A: Without any trimming or bolt cutting, 255/65/17, but you may have some rubbing at full lock(steering wheel turned all the way in one direction) with some tires depending on tread depth and design. The largest 18" tire you can add on the stock 18" rim without a lift is a 265/65-18.. The more aggressive looking the tread, the less clearance you will have. If you are unsure whether a tire will fit, go to a local tire chain(Big-O, Les Schwab, America's/Discount Tire Co, etc) and have them test fit that tire on both front wheels. You can then check the bolt for the Upper Control Arm(UCA), just above and to the inboard side of the front tire. Turn the steering wheel to full lock in each direction and check for the tire rubbing against the wheel well on the edges of the tire.

Q: What is the biggest tire you can fit with a 2-3" BB lift?

A: 285/70/17 or 33"x11.5"x17"

I have the OME rears, and they are awesome. Well worth the money IMHO. I can't say how the bilsteins ride, but the OME's are definitely a vast improvement over stock.

I've asked this before, but still not sure...What about the balljoints, tie rods, driveline angles and such, when you use, say an OME, a lift? I know it's "only" ~3" lift or so, but seems our BJ's already suck at stock levels...

So, If I have stock rims, what size BFG ATs or Wrangler MTRs should I get? I can add some spacers to prevent rubbing.

Your best and some would argue safest bet is to go with new wheels with the proper backspacing (instead of spacers).

Ok, well I found a set of 17" Jeep Rubicon rims with BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires, with a 5x5 bolt pattern. Will these fit my Jeep? The tires are size 255/75/17's. If I go with the OME lift, will these work?
