Re: Coolant Flush time...

you need something with HOAT:

Mopar Antifreeze/Coolant 5-year/100,000 mile formula
The recommended mixture is 50/50 ethylene-glycol and water. Never use pure antifreeze.

Only Mopar Antifreeze Coolant, 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula (glycol base coolant with corrosion inhibitors called HOAT) is recommended. This coolant offers the best engine cooling without corrosion when mixed with 50% distilled water.

Note: Antifreeze mixture must always be at least 44%, all climates year round. Maximum protection (-90d) is provided with a 68% mixture protection.

Do not change the thermostat for summer or winter operation. If replacement is ever necessary, install ONLY the correct type thermostat. Other designs may result in unsatisfactory cooling performance, poor gas mileage, and increased emissions.

zerex makes a HOAT one called G 05

Re: Coolant Flush time...

So... coolant flush materials + JET 180* = 65$

Coolant flush and change out of tstat from dealer would been like 240$.

+1 DIY.

Got all the goodies to flush and change tstat to a 180*, just need to do it. Looking like the 16th is the day I'll have free.

I noticed a big difference (probably a 20% reduction in temps) after doing both of these (flush and t-stat). I need all the help I can get being in Florida.

Yes, a very big +1 for DIY. :)

Changed the spark plugs and omfg. They were so worn im surprised that it ran. Seriously wondered if last people did maintenance to the girl.

Do you have the 5.7?

If so, the PCV is near the back, passenger side of the engine bay. BE SURE that the new valve gets inserted the same way the old one gets removed.

i have the 4.7 and that is where the PCV valve is located. unless you have the newer 4.7 and they moved it.
