wj seats

Hi

My 02 Grand Cherokee Limited has just decided to break it's drivers seat!

It looks as though the chasis rail has snapped, is this a common fault?

Can it be welded, or do I have to replace the whole seat?

Can I swap the front seat chasis, so the car is still driveable?

I dare say finding parts in the UK will be expensive?

Craig:confused:

Thats what i did, big washer to hold the bolt on whats left of the rail...or you can weld no problem. Rip it out and youll see how easy it is to fix!

If you need to order the part, 'partsgateway' are pretty good in the UK. But that said call the dealer first for a price too, as in the UK they are sometimes cheaper than the salvage yards and considerably so in some circumstances. I saved 22 today, by buying from the dealer.

mine did the same, i just got a piece of 1/8" steal and drilled a hole for the bolt and bridges the gap where the rail broke

Could try eBay, normally one or two GC on there for salvage...

Yeah. I've saved money a few times at the dealer. When my blower motor went I was quoted 60 for a used one from the local salvage yard. The dealer was 55 for a brand new one, so no brainer.

No secret Marty. Apparently the dealers are now trying to compete more with the motor factors due to the current market. So it's often cheaper to buy the more consumable parts from them.

I've been cheaper on ebay for a lot of other stuff, but anything I need I phone the dealer for a price and then check that ebay store I told you about.

Parts gateway is pretty good, but it's mostly stuff from breakers yards, so I'd only use it if it's a part you need in a hurry and can't get anywhere else. It can be pretty expensive too.
