waxed and scratched

I took my car to get washed and waxed today, which i payed just under $50 for. i picked up my car and took it home, and noticed waterspots on my front bumper, as well as bugs, and 3 scratches on my grille! i took it back, and asked them why i had waterspots, and they claimed it was from my sprinklers at home, and it was baked in the paint. when i asked about the scratch, he said "that was there before" i told him there was no way that my grille was scratched and he said " hold on, i didnt wax the car, he did" and he brought the guy over, he said the same thing, but what i dont get is how the first guy saw the scratch, if he didnt wax the car! im pretty effin pissed...but the owner of the place is my moms customer, and plus he owns a black SRT8, so maybe i can get him to trade grilles:Dhaha ya right...but do u think there is anything i can do??

thanks

Moe

Re: waxed and scratched

Probably not unless you have some kind of proof that there was no scratch on the grill in the first place. Hopefully the guy will fix it just to keep good customer relations.

any chance of before pics (doubt it but it could help out a lot if u have recent pics)

other than that, stand your gorund as much as possible. dont let the anybody walk over on you. all else fails you burn the bridge out of principles.

That sucks Moe, sorry to hear that...

Can you feel the scratch with your finger nail? If yes you can reduce the effect by polishing the area but it will still be there. Alternatively you can use some touch-up paint.

If you can't feel it, some polishing compound will take it right out.

I'd recommend Meguair's ScratchX as its not overly aggressive which is a great thing when working with painted plastic.

HTH.

You paid 50 bucks, of course there is going to be issues. A real detail shop can almost get rid of a scratch, I know for a fact water spots can be buffed out, because I've had my vehicle buffed. Find a better place. In saskatoon, a FULL car detail exterior and interior runs about 210 bucks. I'd suggest a different shop

thanks for ur help...like i said, my mom is a private banker, and the owner of the place is one of her customers, so im gonna give him a call and let him know...it doesnt even look like it was waxed...just washed, it is really just a crappy job that they did, never again will i take my car to them...and Martyp, i can feel it, its pretty deep...im pretty pissed, and im not sure, but isnt wax supposed to hide the scratches?? im really upset about it all....i just want my jeep to look clean...the hood looks like straight shit, as well as the front bumper cover!

Man that sucks. I know a place in Perth here makes you do a walk round first and fill in a form, showing what, if any, marks are on the car so you can't blame them.

But I say stand your ground, you know your Jeep and you know if it's scratched or not. Legally I suppose without proof you're stumped. It's just a case of 'I didn't do it'.

Good luck though

Damn, sounds rough...

Wax won't really do much (if anything) to minimise it really - I know that probably is not what you wanted to hear...

I just don't know what kind of come back you will have at the shop since it is a case of you word vs. theirs. I wish you the best of luck with it though, as you never know they may just be honest and come forward and admit they are at fault and repair the damage.

a full detail at that shop is like 300 or so....this was just a wax....it really gets me mad tho....watever...im prolly gonna call him tomorrow, and just let him know what happened, and maybe theyll believe me...but i know for a fact that there wasnt a scratch on the grill tho

Re: waxed and scratched

that much money for a wash and u have water spots plus a scratched grill ... IMHO just do it on ur own my friend it always works the best

but going back to your original question yes stand ur ground and be firm with them don't let off until they take care of that for u ...

that's some real BS if they wanna burn bridges like that and also like everyone else has already mentioned POWER TO THE PEOPLE LOL

yea it's goign to be their words against yours. i dont think it will matter much since you left the shop. if you notice it there you might have a case. What MartyP said, ScratchX, maybe Ultimate Compound? ( VERY AGGRESSIVE,)
