Backup camera installation and mounting

1 Attachment(s)
My lockpick is on the way so I also bought a cheap backup camera(dont need the greatest) and I was thinking of how can I install it in the hatch, is there an easy way to get the panel off and run the wire or do you think I should have it installed professionally? It is similar to the oem camera so I was thinking of mounting it in the same spot as the oem. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks:thumbsup:

i was thinking of a similar camera. please post a pic of its view on your nav screen after you install it. you have to take off the interior hatch panel to install the cam and run the wires up through the roof.

How hard is it to remove the panel? Is there an easy way to route the wire to the hatch?

if you put it on the hatch you will have to run the wires with all of the factory wires through the openning at the top of the door. then you can fish them through the roof and down a pillar into the dash

Does the factory camera use existing wiring? I only have the '05 service manual and it does not show any wiring in the harness for the camera (just lights, flip glass, wiper, defogger and lock). Might it be possible later years have the wiring for the camera already integrated into the harness? At least for the portion that comes from the liftgate into the body?
