Bumper weight question

Installing 4.5" BDS suspension lift next week. I want to add new front and rear bumpers. Looking at the RockHard Full width front 137lbs and the Rock Hard rear with tire carrier 145lbs. Are these considered heavy bumpers and will they affect the lift on the truck? ie. sagging, handling

Re: Bumper weight question

Just curious....why are you lifting a JK 4.5"?

With that much lift, you could run 40" tires.

2.5" of lift will allow for 35+" tires.....just saying...

Re: Bumper weight question

because taller = better duh! but those are about right for weight..a tad on the heavy side, just depends what you want. if your crawling get a slimmer lighter bumper that wont interfere with your tires getting to the rocks first

Re: Bumper weight question

I bought it new a couple weeks ago as a project vehicle. I am adding 35" procomp xtreme mud terrains on procomp beadlock wheels. I will take it off road occasionally but no rock climbing in my future as of yet. I didn't want to lift the truck with the bumpers adding too much weight that it would make the front sag.

Re: Bumper weight question

well a slim bumper is always better to me, some people like the fat armored ones..but if the bumper blocks the tires it will make getting over obstacles more difficult.

Thanks for the info. Do you think adding close to 150lbs at each end will make the truck sag or handle different? Any idea what the stock bumpers weigh? The weight increase will be the difference between the aftermarket and stock.

Re: Bumper weight question

with the upgraded suspension it wont pull down as much as you think. factory suspensions are soft for comfort, the offroad suspensions have stronger springs, it might sag 1/2"..with my bumpers and me on the front of my TJ my suspension wouldnt change when i got off and on the front.

more weight might change the handling a tad, so little you prob wont notice it or the other cars you hit..

Re: Bumper weight question

Post up some pics when you get it lifted w/35's on it...ok

I want to see the result.

So, after you add nearly 300# of bumper, stand it up 4.5"(wind drag) and put 35's on, what are you regearing to?

What gears you got now? Auto tranny or 6sp? How about the springs on your lift? It ALL matters....
