vibrations

Just found the site doing some resarch about my '03 grand so i figured i would give you guys a shot. The problem is when i hit 70 on the highway i get a pretty bad vibration but i dont feel it in the steering wheel i can feel it in my a$$. also when i turn the steering wheel to the left like when im changing lanes there is a pretty bad noise. any ideas as to what could be causing this.

Front or rear? Maybe you should try and get your tires rebalanced because maybe one of the weights has fallen off.

If you can't feel the vibration through the steering wheel I don't think it will be coming from the front wheels...

Once you get the wheels balanced, I'm sure that'll solve it - especially if it only happened when you got the tires changed... Sounds like the rears are out to me.

Keep us posted. :)

hmmm...sounds like a drivetrain vibration to me. Take a look at the diveshafts and see if there is any play or leaking fluids from them.

I would check your rear DS ujoints first for play.. that's free to check right... :-P If there's no play I'd get your tires balanced again. You could take your rear tires and put them in the front and see if you feel the vibrations in the steering will... if you do then you know its one of those two wheels/tires.

Re: vibrations

what transfer case do you have? you implied you replaced tires only on the front? what about the rears? you should always replace tires on the front and the rear on 4wd jeeps. especially full time 4wd units like quadradrive
