Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

You may well find that you will soon have a flat battery as a lot of electrical systems are left running when the key is in accessory position. Up to 10 amps can be drawn.

Overdrive Problem

Took the Jeep out for a run yesterday for the first time since it was laid up last July. It appears that for some reason the overdrive has now decided not to work (it did before lay up). When...

Re: Thinking of Selling my 2002

Wow, these ar damned expensive in the USA. In the UK you'd be very lucky to get 2.5k (or $3750) for it!! My 1999 GC LTD would be hard pushed to reach 1200 ($1821) if I tried to sell it. I guess...

Re: Used 2000 WJ Electrical Gremlins

Just ensure that when you turn the engine off the key is not turned all the way back. If you look at the trim around the ignition barrel you will see a mark that shows the 'Off' position.

Re: Used 2000 WJ Electrical Gremlins

I had a similar problem with my 1999 GC Ltd flattening the battery in the space of a couple of days. Spent ages looking for an electrical fault but never found one. Even went as far as data logging...

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

Ok, fair enough but I am a (UK) degree qualified electroincs engineer of some 30 years experience, 10 years of which were spent in car audio design and installation. I've had a passion for domestic...

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

I'm having trouble understanding that statement. Your own measurements show the DC resistance to be 2.1 ohms, the rough guide multiplication factor converts this to 2.73 ohms (which is only a rough...

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

Yep, pretty much as close to a nominal 4 ohms as any car speaker that is rated at 4 ohms is.

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

So in reality from your measurements all but the tweeter are nominally 4 ohm speakers. Compatible with 99.9% of replacement speakers.

Tweeters are often a higher impedance as the greater value...

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

What you are measuring is the speakers resistance, not its impedance. They are not the same thing. A speakers impedance changes with frequency and cannot be measured by just connecting up a...

Re: Macgyvers of the Autoworld, I need help with a dent

I don't know if its the same in the US as it is in the UK but used wings (fenders) can be picked up for virtually nothing in junk yards over here. It's bolt on and easy to replace so why not just...

Re: Immobiliser Problem?

What I can't understand is that the car ran perfectly for several weeks without fuse 19 being fitted. Hence my thought that it is something to do with a rechargeable backup battery that eventually...

Hi Frango, assuming that you have the same manual I have the information is in section 8W-18. The wiring diagrams are 8W-18-2, 3 & 4. 8W-18-4 shows the connector at the bottom of the page.

As...

Re: Immobiliser Problem?

Well, it wasn't the crank sensor as a new one made no difference. Looks like the ECU is fried. Probably going to scrap the car as I cannot justify spending more money on it.
