Yep, the objective is to pull it straight out of the case, prying, pulling, slide hammer if you feel so inclined... however you get there is fine as long as you don't dig into the case too much.

Old one can be pulled out with a screw driver or small prybar/crowsfoot, just insert your tool of choice through the center extending to the wall of the tube so you're under the body of the seal....

It still could be a bad sensor, it takes some drive time @ speed to initiate the check sequence. It still has that sensor registered at the old locale, drive a few miles on the hwy or back roads...

Wouldn't hurt to crack the bleed plug again after a few heat cycles just to be sure there are no lingering stubborn bubbles that eluded you the first time.

You're right, after some run time and warm up the coolant was pulled into the motor and system, should've been mostly circulated with the bleed though. You'll need to add coolant, the full/add lines...

Once the pump is installed (or whatever coolant sys work you're doing is done) you'll need to fill with the appropriate coolant. Fill the radiator and let it run, you can top it off as it pulls it...
