Hi Frank,
It's the rubber 'boot' - we call them gaitor or boot over here sorry!!!
The one that has failed was the LH front behind the wheel hub.

Just found the Amsoil alternative which is pretty easy to get hold of here.
It's the synthetic tractor hydraulic/transmission oil. :thumbsup:

I recently changed my transfer case fluid and it stopped the chatter but it has now returned - I did read elsewhere that a tip is to use some friction modifier in the T-Case also?

Hi Frank,
Steering seems fine - occasional noise when doing a tight slow turn in the parking lot but that's all.
I'll check the fan for free spinning before I start it to when I go home in an hour...

Yep, resevoir was fine - took the cap off to let teh fluid go back in.
The garage said the piston maybe partially seized which he said he could fix si it's going in thursday - new disks...

I just sucked a bit out and added nearly two ounces more fluid (didn't see anything untoward in fluid). I did do a few figure 8s but I'll do a few more lunchtime in a big open area round...

I've added more additive to my rear diff but still get a groan - particularly on slow left turns.
Is there anything like a wheel bearing or brake pads which could also cause the noise?...

I think you may have just hit the nail on the head mate, I had to get a tyre repaired the other day and he used a large trolley jack on the sub frame and I think I remember seeing the fill plug quite...

I cleared all codes last night before it went in so that 02 sensor must be knackered or they moved something when under the car. It was previously P0161 but when I collected it it was P0158. Better...

Passed no with no probs.
What amazed me is how clean the emmissions are on LPG - zero CO readings at all !!!
Glad they didn't spot my check engine light for my downstream 02...

I'll let you know how I get on folks - 1.30pm today and I haven'y had a chance to put more additive in the rear diff so it can moan a bit on tight corners but I don't think they can fail it on that....

Yes, I do mean the front drive shaft so that's ok. It clunks when going from D or R into N or P - just seems like an excessive release of the torque built up in the drive train. I'll have to...

All sorted, drilled two holes in the door and zip tied the door to the grid behind. Pig trying to get the drill holes in the right place but now it's blowing like a good 'un again!
