Re: 2014/2015 V6 transmission issue

However, what I have noticed lately is a strong transmission fluid smell when towing or on longer highway trips. Fluid temps appear normal for the v6 at 195-202. So, on one hand I like the GC, but on...

Re: 2014/2015 V6 transmission issue

The valve body replacement made a night and day improvement. One out ten stops will give the rough downshift to first, otherwise all other shifts are smooth or firm depending on right pedal force....

If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Sorry to hear that JA won't step up to replace the valve body. The only thing they listen to is a loss of customer. For the 49k sticker my overland was, these refinement issues should be top priority...

Re: 2014/2015 V6 transmission issue

Msca, mine did exactly what yours is doing. The relearn did not fix it. They put a new valve body in. Details in the "I think I fixed my rough shifting 8 speed" thread. So far, after 2000 miles,...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

Update: Happy to report that after several weeks and many times towing, the new valve body is holding smooth shifts. No clunky upshifts or downshifts hot or cold. I hope I can still say that in...

Re: Service ACC/FCW Warning on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Same here, they replaced the switch. It does work better but I still occasionally get the error unless I press square. Seems like a cheap excuse. I've posted my fair share of complaints lately. The...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

SnoFire, I had it done at Bergstrom Jeep in Oshkosh. What ultimately drove STAR to the conclusion to authorize replacement of the valve body was the horrid behavior when cold. I made sure to specify...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

If you accelerated steady but slow before, each gear shift would cause the vehicle to shudder, I don't think that will make the transmission last. It now shifts like you would expect. A tow with a...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

This is the valve body for the V6 8 speed. I didn't pay anything, it was covered under warranty. Today, I pulled my 4500# boat. Shifts are literally imperceptible. THIS is how a $45K vehicle...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

The valve body was replaced yesterday with a new revision. No comparison to previous runs at this in how it shifts now. Smooth cold or hot. No long user learning curve either. Here is the part #...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I've been waiting 3 weeks for a new version of the valve body to go in mine that will supposedly address the transmission reverting back to the crappy shifting after a few weeks. It goes to dealer...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Hard Shifts

Re: Images of Skid Plates on 2012 GC Overland

eibyer,
How low was your fuel level when you put the gas tank plates on? I didn't think it would be a good idea unless I was down under a 1/4 to unbolt half at a time. The other 3 went on Ok.
