Found The Solution: I had to pull up on the bolt with a large pair of pliers. It came out after pulling as hard as I could. There is a large bushing in the manifold.

This is not helpful because it does not cover my problem - - bolts instead of studs that I can not get out.

What you said makes sense. It does sound like I did not loosen the bolt all the way, and it makes no sense that the bolt will not come out after loosening it all the way. But this is what I have, and...

You have a V8, mine is a V6, which is different, with only one bolt per coil. The bolt is loosened all the way, until it spins, but does not come out.

My 2009 V-6 spark plug coils are not like previous years. Each has a bolt (not a nut) which remains captive, and I can only lift the coil about an inch, until it hits the bolt. The bolt spins (loose)...
