Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

Well 70th, since I'm the one who started this particular posting, I too am biased, and can say that my Aug2010 built WK2 had no hood (snow) seal, no dam next to the air intake and no cover over the...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

LJS851, thank you, Apology accepted. As for Mr Frozen, I have a colleague who had a similar electrical issue with a rental 2011 Grand Cherokee, though he was able to get it into neutral and restart...

Re: New JCG, again!

Re: New JCG, again!

Scott,
I drove that damn Jeep 700 miles, with water in the intake, due to no seal on the hood and no foam diverter. The engine blew, and I was without a vehicle for 2 months. I really don't care if...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

Hey All - I went back and looked at the post #39 and then checked the hood on my 2011 Grand Cherokee, and damn, there are holes for a seal, but NO SEAL!! Time to go back to the dealer and raise some...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

Well wasn't that a nice video. It would have been more equivalent to my experience if you had not raised the body up. It also doesn't even come close to what Chrysler shows on their Jeep stream...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

Wish I could say they had, but alas, I'm going to have to claim it on my insurance, as Chrysler still maintains it was hydrolock. $7500 for a new engine. Good luck.

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

I noticed the same large opening on mine, even with the off road package, ther is a huge amount of open space for water to be splashed up. The Hemi's must fill up most of this open space. I'd sure...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

MSCA, this is the point I tried to make with Phil Jansen when we discussed this by phone. Especially if Jeep is going to advertise stream fording. The new wrangler's air intake appears to be on the...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

My Thanks to Sparro for the posting as I have an engineer who works for me with a 2011 Wrangler - he will be quite interested in this video clip. And again, I emphasize that mine went almost 700...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

No Marlin - not covering any tracks - I was on vacation in a new vehicle - I didn't bring any tools to do any repairs. I wouldn't have even thought about pulling the plugs if I had. I am giving you...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

I would like to thank everyone for all the supportive comments. Here are some additional photos. I looked at the plenum and the filter box photos and couldn't see a drain hole, but the filter box...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

I will post additional photos (the site only seems to let you post 3 at a time). As to DavidB's comment, what am I missing? How about when the regional Tech investigated the vehicle, he pulled the...

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

Thanks to all for the comments. Below are some photos as requested. I will say, I saw no drain paths when I looked at the air plenum. Also, I would like to say that I understand the balance needed by...

The “Jeep Manifesto” and “Creek Fording” commercials especially came to mind when deciding to purchase a vehicle we could use on our yearly vacations to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We...
