Re: Ticking from dash

If you have your HVAC system set to "auto" the A/C compressor will still come on. My 2014 made this same noise--as does my 2015 now in the situations mentioned. The A/C evaporator core is located...

Ticking from dash

The HVAC will sometimes make a noise similar to what you're describing when the A/C system comes on. Usually this happens when it hasn't been run for a few hours or more and has totally depressurized...

2015 8-speed (Hemi) differences

So...after getting my replacement 2015 WK2 (Hemi) I've noticed some differences with the transmission (8HP70) compared to my 2014.

1) It holds gears longer under moderate throttle -- shifting...

Re: 2014 WK2 Climate control sound

My first action would be to replace the cabin air filter. When it gets dirty it can restrict airflow and at certain flow rates cause a "whistle" noise.

Otherwise, it could be the fan motor or a...

Re: 9 speed transmission?

Correct. It isn't a true "manual" mode--it's an Electronic Range Select option. The transmission will still downshift if necessary. Regardless, selecting too high of a gear won't really stress the...

Re: Why $1000 extra for brushed trim in the California edition.

About half of that is because they can--pure profit. The other half is increased parts cost of those particular parts due to lower volume on them, as well as recouping tooling changes for the...

On mine it's acting like hitting the buttons on the wheel. However, it has done this twice, sitting there, with nothing touching the wheel or radio. In my case I'm suspecting a bad switch on the...

Re: radio issue...

I just noticed this issue too. Randomly my stations or songs (if I'm playing them through my phone) will start to walk "up" as if I'm hitting the forward scan button. Strange.

Re: Any way to test the auto-leveling headlights?

They only cycle through the test pattern if you start the vehicle with the headlamps in the "AUTO" position and it's dark enough for them to be on automatically. If you just turn them "ON" or select...

V6 Transmission Shifting MUCH Better after Reflashes

Vehicles being built typically have newer software before it's released as a reflash to existing vehicles. This is largely because of procedural issues -- releasing the software separately, testing...

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

Actually there is such a thing - in two ways. Orders marked as "sold" are given some priority. They can also be "Hot tagged" which gives a bit more priority for various things. It's very possible the...

Re: V6 Transmission Shifting MUCH Better after Reflashes

It likely will get better as you continue to drive it. When they did the new "quick learn" that just set up a base clutch calibration for the transmission. The adaptives will pick up from there and...

Re: Own a 2011-2013 and had your windshield replaced?

Actually that isn't true. It can be Re-calibrated using the factory scan tool. From that base calibration it does it's own relearn routines.

The biggest issue with the sensors is when an adhesive...

That looks a lot like the Cherokee I ordered. It's definitely just a normal V6 if you guys are talking about diesels.

Curious noise after shutdown

Bingo. It's the blend doors -- not vacuum driven though -- the system shuts them before going to sleep, usually at the 2-3 minute mark after shutdown.

Re: Own a 2011-2013 and had your windshield replaced?

The windshield part number printed on the glass is not a Mopar number -- it's a supplier assembly number which won't match the actual Mopar part number. The Mopar printing indicates you got OEM...

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This has been discussed quite a bit. You're not bottoming out -- your suspension is actually banging on the rebound because you're closer to the upper travel limit while in those modes. It is in fact...

Transmission & Oil Temperatures

I haven't seen any transmission literature stating 200 degree temps will cause damage. In any case, fear not...the 8HP series (and 845RFE) are designed to operate in the 190-210 range regularly. In...

Trailer Tow Group IV Package

The radiator fan and cooling strategy are also different. Standard cooling has a simple two-speed fan...the HD cooling option has a higher-capacity fan that has variable speed controlled via PWM.

They write that paperwork. It's not a true "recall". Otherwise it would have a recall number associated with it and not a CSN number. It's s subtle but real distinction. Recalls are done when the...

It does make a bit of a difference -- outside noise doesn't seem as prominent. I wouldn't call it a HUGE difference but it's definitely there.

That's a fleet site and reflects information for fleet orders. Dealer orders aren't necessarily going to have such long lead times.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

It's not a vehicle recall. It's a CSN. I believe they did do a parts recall for inventory parts manufactured within the dates of the problem parts. That's a bit of a different thing.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I would suspect the same--otherwise the differences between the Overland and Summit trim levels will be getting very thin and customers may not be very incentivized to step up to the Summit level.

Re: Fender Trim (Summit) lifting

Indeed. The body shop at my dealership has repaired a lot of these lifting trim pieces on Summits -- it's fairly common. They use a different tape and generally get it permanently fixed.
