Re: Another Service Experience, Another Rant

I escalated to multiple service managers and got the same baloney. The dealership has apparently turned to crap in the few years I have stayed away. So on to dealership number 3 to try to find...

Another Service Experience, Another Rant

- Schedule appointment, print out coupons, declare them at the time of scheduling. Request rental car to be ready as it is in the middle of a work day and tell them I will be in a rush. Need about...

Re: Used 2013 vs New 14 or 15

Don't forget the advanced tech package. You will still miss the hemi, the front park sensors, and the upgraded sound system of the Summit.

Re: Used 2013 vs New 14 or 15

I have a 2013 Overland (non-Summit) with a hemi. Fantastic car, and while I wish I had the 8 speed I will note that it is still a very fast car and saving $15k (when compared to an Overland Summit...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

A $300 tuner will make a difference for the Hemi as well. Just stating that the hemi can be pushed very far with available mods and that it makes no sense to compare a stock hemi to a modded diesel....

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

Seems like an unreasonable comparison. Wouldn't you need to compare a modded hemi to a modded diesel? Hemi has a ton of room for improvement. In fact, if you're REALLY ambitious you can even add a...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

I mean, I'm hoping that people that paid this much weren't paying their last dime. I could afford the M class AMG (not seeing the appeal of the G wagon) but yes, at that point I'd start worrying...

Re: POST 2014 V8 MPG's

Yeah, I do a reverse commute from the area and traffic will make any car deliver crappy fuel economy. I went from a 2006 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7L engine and the 2013 GC with a 5.7L gives me about...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

I drive around 100 miles a day. My typical driving pattern is to immediately switch it to "sports" and then drive it like I stole it.

It isn't THAT much money at the end of the day,...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

I'm sorry, but I'm going to disagree. We have someone that actually ran the numbers here to show that you're not coming out ahead on cost vs the V6. And the hemi is more than a little faster stock...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

Diesel 0-60 is 7.8 seconds. That is pretty mediocre. Especially when you consider that the regular V6 is 7.5.

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

For an "everyday driver not interested in stomping on the gas for thrills" the V6 is the engine of choice. But as a performance oriented driver, if the V8 goes away without a performance replacement...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

I don't think it is because "Americans are stupid." I think it is because you're talking about a 3.0L Turbo V6, which costs more than the hemi but has far worse characteristics like 0-60. If it was...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

That's a great follow up question. If Hemis account for 30% of Overland/Summit orders and Diesels make up another 10-20% then that is significant information, even if it is basically zero for...

Also, can someone shine light on the Summit's leather vs the Overland's?

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

The RR that puts the hemi to shame is a supercharged V8, not the supercharged V6. I would certainly welcome a supercharged V8. The supercharged V6 on the RRS gets times similar to the hemi, as does...

We're long lost siblings. :) I considered the same cars and also picked Jeep specifically because of the V8. I would have gone for the SRT if they were equally capable offroad.

Re: If you were to give up your GC today, what would you get?

Not only does it have it, iirc it is exactly the same as what is on the JGC. But if someone can demonstrate that it is significantly worse offroad than a JGC then I might have to rethink this. But...

Re: WK 2 is a little scary with all the problems especially SRT

It is bizarre. If they said "pay $20 out of pocket to take a loaner instead of bothering with the car rental company" I would have done it and been much happier. It isn't the money, it is the time...

Re: If you were to give up your GC today, what would you get?

Considered each one.

Cayenne - to spec it out to be the equivalent of a JGC Summit you're looking at an obscene amount of money. In general, the base cost is reasonable but any additions/upgrades...

That's not really a direction that is viable if one wants to play in the $50k+ SUV market.

I generally agree, but just wrote that out as a response to some purists that would turn their nose up at anything that doesn't have solid axles.
