My salesman (actually the guy who took over my guy, who just retired) called me the other day and wanted me to trade in my '12 Overland V6. Asked me to come in and see "the new technology", referring...

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Trip to Snowshoe WV this past weekend was the test for these tires, now about 20k miles on them. Snow and ice on the roads for the last 30 miles or so both directions, heavy at times. And of course...

Re: Positioning jack stands on the WK2

The reason that they do that is for liability concerns, due to potential instability. You should note that in the high positions jack stands will tend to sway. Most sway more in just one direction,...

Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

I have an extended service contract which includes a loaner. I also have the P0456 code, a bluetooth scanner, and common sense. A 'very small leak in EVAP Emm Cntrl Sys', hmmm.

First thing I'm...

Re: How long did your fortera tires last?

About 49k miles on mine now I should be able to last through the summer, 10 to 15k miles, and then get a new set for winter.

Aside from hydroplaning during a deluge last month they have been good...

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

This. CR has always had a bias against US badged cars and a bias towards Japanese brand cars. Back in the 80's my Ford had their lowest rating, but my car never left me stranded after 185k miles and...

Re: Windshield wiper streak

I am a cheapskate, and Costco sells Goodyear beam-type blades for $8 each and I've been using them. Sometimes they leave the streak and sometimes they don't. It seems to depend on the individual...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

I've found that when I mix an ounce or two of Chanel #5 with 100 octane racing fuel in the petrol tank and wrap $100 bills around the full length of the exhaust pipe my Rolls has so much more pep to...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Manufacturer's specs; 51% of the weight carried by the front wheels and 49% carried by the rear. As I recall the same vehicle with the Hemi is 54-46 or so. It's an iron block vs. aluminum, and of...

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

Speaking as an engineer there's a lot of variables in the test procedure due to the fact that it is a human driver. Add in the lack of complete documentation (photos and weights of loads, steering...

Re: JEEP Engineers suck!

As a design engineer myself I am greatly amused when someone modifies a product without proper planning then blames the designer for it not working.

Every vehicle that I have owned since the 80's...

Re: Getting a Laredo E and need some help

I installed a back-up camera on the wife's 328i a while back. I purchased from modmynav.com. It integrates with the OEM computer screen on the dash by using a video module. A compete plug and play...

Re: Plastic Engine Covers

They don't come off easy when new. Once you get it off lubricate the rubber grommets with an itty bitty of silicone spray and it will go on and come off much easier.
