well for those of you who mmay come across a similar issue, i bought a timing cover off a 2008 JGC & it fits perfect. looks like the front ends are infact similar on both generation 4.7's

thats the issue, when checking by P/N alone, it would seem that the same unit was used in 4.7's of the 05'+ 1st gen & 2nd gen engines. they also turn up for 05' & up 3.7 engines.

I had the same issue exactly the way you described it happen to my tired old CJ5. i braked real hard once to avaoid a collision & the rear leaf spring...

thanks guys,

just did the reset,... yeah it makes sense that the capacitors will discharge via grounding the (+)ive, switching the lights or any other load for that matter.
